OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE~ INDIANA
TUESDAY APRIL 21,1997
Mayor Thomas R. Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A~M., and
on call of the roll those members present were: Planning and
Development Director Jim Urban filling in for Director Lakeman, and
Safety Director Anthony Harrod.
Also present were: Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Engineer
Bob Miller, City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwlck, Sewage Office Manager
Bob Goldman, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Wastewater Treatment
Plant Manager Kendall Coleman, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton,
Animal Shelter Office Manager Rick Broy~Assistant Police Chief Mike
Pavey, Fire Chief Mike Smith,Redevelopment Secretary Donna
Kammeyer,Bullding Commissioner Bill Gavin~ and Clerk Lynne Kempf~
Planning and Development Director Jim Urban made the motion to approve
the payrolls as presented, seconded by Director Harrod and carried
unanimously°
Director Harrod made the motion to approve the minutes as presented,
seconded by Planning and Development Director Jim Urban and carried
unanimously.
RESIDENT PARKING
Police Chief Pavey said he checked this location at 223 Pearl Street
and sees no problem with a sign. Director Harrod made the motion to
approve the resident parking sign, seconded by Planning and
Development Director Jim Urban and carried unanimously.
CHARITY WALK
Twyman Patterson requested approval to hold a Charity Walk for Cystlc
Fibrosis. The walk will go from Jeff High School to Woodland Court.
PlanDing and Development Director Jim Urban, seconded by Director
Harrod and carried unanimously.
MARCH OF DIMES
Redevelopment Secretary Donna Kammeyer invited the Board and the city
and it's employees to take part in the March of Dimes Walk America or
by simply giving a donation.

JEAN'S MARKET
Jerry Key of Jean's Market requested to close Smith Avenue on May 1st
from 11:00 to 7:0~ p~m. to kick off the opening of a new hair salon
there. Director Harrod made the motion to approve the street closure~
seconded by Planning and Development Director Jim Urban and carried
unanimous%yo
KELLEM'S COURT
Planning and Development Dlrector Jim Urban asked approval to name a
street by the name of Kellem's Court. Director Harrod made the motion
to approve the street name, seconded by Planning and Development
Director Urban and carried unanimously.
JUMP COMMITTEE
Melba Doggett told the Board about the upcoming Jump Committee Award
Banquet. She also voiced concern on behalf of Ida Callahan of the
1~05 block of Eighth Street and the noise made by "Cookies Cafe" on
the day of Thunder Over Louisville~ After some discussion and the
fact that the cafe is operating without a variance, Mayor Galligan
said steps would be taken to solve this problem.
THUNDER PARKING
Planning and Development Director Urban reported the amount of money
taken in for parking the day of Thunder Over Louisville. The amount
was S7,665.00.
HANDICAPPED PARKING
Director Barrod asked Police Chief Pavey
for a handicapped parking sign.

PAYMENT IN LIEU O? TAXES
Mayor Gal!igan asked the Board to pass a resolution approving payment
in lieu of taxes from the Sewer Department in the amount of
$188,000~00: Director Barrod made the motion to approve the payment,
seconded by Planning and Development Director Urban and carried
unanimously.
CITATION
Ronnie Lightfoot was cited into the Board of Public Works by Building
Commissioner Gavin for failure to clean up his property. Planning and
Development Director Urban made the motion to give Mr. Lighfoot one
week to clean up his property, seconded by Director Harrod and carried
unanimously.

PAUL WUNDRAK
Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman inquired about whether anythlng has
been done on the previous matter of Mr. Wundrak of 3007 Gardner Blvd.
making the required connection to the sewer system. Mayor Galllgan
sald Mr. Wundrak would be contacted again since he has not made the
required connection.
ALLEY
Councilperson Vicki Conlin~ representing Jean Marie Steele who resides
on W. Market Street requested giving the alley that runs by her house
back to the city. After some discussion~ City Attorney Sedwick said
she would speak with Ms. Steele about this.
LOAN FROM SEWER DEPARTMENT
Planning and Development Director Jim Urban made the motion to approve
loaning the City $50~,00~.00 from the Sewage Dept, seconded by
Director Harrod and carried unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Harrod made the motion to adjourn at 10:30
a.m., seconded by Planning and Development Directo~ and carried
unanimously.
