on call of the
Harold Lakeman,
Galllgan called the meeting to order at 9,30 A.M., and
roll those members present were: Personnel Director
and Safety Director Anthony Harrod.
Also present were: Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Engineer
Bob Miller, City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick, Sewage Office Manager
Bob Goldman, Planning and Development Director Jim Urban, Parks
Superintendent Rick Elliott~ Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager
Kendall Coleman, Animal Shelter Representative Rick Broy, Fire Chief
Mike Smith, Assistant Police Chief John Monlhon, and Clerk Lynne
Kempf.
Director Harrod made a motion to strike sentences 4,5, and 7
pertaining to Drainage in Elke Pointe from the minutes of 1-21-97,
seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. A note was then
read saying that Mr. Spencer wanted to state for the record that the
minutes of January 21, 1997 reflect what was spoken on the tape of the
January 21, 1997 BPW meeting. City Attorney Sedwick stated for the
record that what is on the tape is not always accepted verbatim in the
minutes.
Director Harrod made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.
FUND FOR THE ARTS
Christen McDonough made a presentation on the Fund for the Arts, a
non-profit organization regarding an employee donation campaign.
Mayor Galligan said if every employee could give $5~00 we could reach
a goal of $1~000.00.
DUMPSTER FOR INDIANA HOTEL
Director Lakeman said that a call was received requesting a dumpster
at the Indiana Hotel on Maple Street because some roof work is being
done. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve a dumpster,
seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously.
MARCH OF DIMES
Mayor Galligan reported that the 1997 March of Dimes
scheduled for Saturday~ May 10th. Registration is at
day, with the walk beginning at 9:30 a.m.

ROLLING FIELDS SEWER
City Engineer Bob Miller recommended accepting the low bid of Reschar
Construction to perform the work of the Rolling Fields Lift
Station/Sanitary Sewer. Director Lakeman made the motion to accept
the bids seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously.
NELLIE KNOWLAND
Mso Knowland requested something in writing stating that the city will
haul in some dirt for her drainage problem at her residence and she
will have it spread with the city's approva!: The Mayor said this
could be done. Lakeman made the motion to approve her request,
seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously°
CDL TRAINING PROGRAM
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that Vehicle Maintenance
Foreman Mike Ewton has set up a training program to help employees to
pass the test to receive their CDL license.
There being np further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to ad3ourn at 9:45
