DECEMBER 7, 1998 Mayor Galligan calle2t the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the/~oll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman. Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Personnel Director Cissy Ellis, Redevelopment Secr~etary Donna Kammeyer,Wastewater Treatment Assistant Director Traylor, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Planning and Development Director Jana Ecker, Animal Shelter Asst. Manager Rick Broy, City Attorney Galligan, and Clerk Lynne Kempf. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 11-23-98 and 11-30-98 as presented, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the sewage claims as presented, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. HOLIDAY PICK-UP Street Commissioner Ervin reported m the Board that the Holiday Trash Pick-up schedule will be posted in the Evening News. JINGLE BELL CHASE RUN Louise Henson gave race information for the Jingle Bell Chase sponsored by Bridge The Gap. the race starts at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12th. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the Jingle Bell Chase, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.. INTER-CITY ROAD CLAIMS Redevelopment Secretary Kammeyer presented a claim from Butler, Fairman, and Seufert, Inc. for $13,610.00 with Jeff's portion being $6,805.00. this claim is on the ICRP Bridge Design and Plans and the Retaining Wall Design and Plans. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the payment, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. CITATION Building Commissioner Decker said he sent a letter to Robinson Foundry on 10-13-98 notifying that their lot needs to be cleaned up. On 10-28-98, the lot was reinspected and Building Commissioner Decker talked to Mr. Thompson by phone. Mr. Thompson thought the city would help remove the sand. He said he needs more time to removed the sand and it will cost him about $1,000 per month. He said he is planning to have it all removed in 6 months. Mayor Galligan said he would give him 6 months but suggested that he check on renting a dump truck during the next few months to get the sand removed more quickly. CITATION City Engineer Miller cited Roger Smith in regard to the retension basin in Lansberg Cove. Mr. Smith said he has no objection to putting it in but is concerned i£it will work or not. He asked the City to give him documentation on this. Mayor Galligan said his request would be no problem. ACCEPTANCE OF STREET City Engineer Miller made the motion to accept the street of Lansberg Cove, Section 2 into the City, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. FLEET LOSS CONTROL POLICY Safety Director Trembly requested that the Board adopt a Fleet Loss Control Policy. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the policy, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. TENTH ST. LIFT STATION Wastewater Treatment Plant Asst. Director Traylor requested that the Board approve the purchase of two new pumps. The pumps will cost $62,745.00. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the purchase of the pumps, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. LEAK DETECTION SENSOR Wastewater Treatment Plant Asst. Director Traylor requested that the Board approve a leak detection sensor for the RAS pumps in the mount of $3,240.00. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the purchase, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 10:20 a.m., seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carded unanimously.
