HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-23-1998MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1998 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman. Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Detective Jack Fleeman, Wastewater Treatment Assistant Director Traylor, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Planning and Development Director Jana Ecker, Animal Shelter Asst. Manager Rick Broy, and Clerk Lyrme Kempf. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 11-9-98 and 11-16-98 as presented, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. Sewage Office Manager made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. MISTLETOE SALES Ron Long appeared before the Board seeking approval to sell mistletoe on the ramp at the foot of Court Avenue. He said he has spoken with Chief Pavey regarding this and he didn't have a problem with it. Mayor Galligan said as long as there weren't any complaints at that location it would be fine. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve selling mistletoe at the foot of Court Ave. pending complaints, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. He will be selling from December 1, 1998 to December 24, 1998. SEWER TAP-IN FEE Mayor Galligan said that Yvonne Bottorff who lives in Ole Stoner Place is requesting approval for a sewer tap-in fee pro-rated. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve her tap-in, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. DISPATCHER HIRED Detective Fleeman, on behalf of Chief Pavey requested the Board approve the hiring of Robin D. Sweeting for the vacancy in telecommunications. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the hiring, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. MALLARD RUN City Engineer Miller said he has inspected Mallard Run #1 and #2 and made the motion to dedicate them into the City, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. STREET LIGHTS City Engineer Miller said that the Street Commissioner has requested a street light at Hamburg Pike and Charlestown Pike at a dark intersection. He said a street light is also needed at 921 Watt Street and another on Maple Street across from Coots Funeral Home. City Engineer Miller made the motion to install all of these street lights, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. ALLISON LANE BID Bids were opened on the Allison Lane Project from Trans-Tech Electric $72,000.00, Arrow Electric $72,995.00, and H.E. Henderson Inc. $75,465.00. John Toombs of Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz recommended the bid of Trans-Tech Electric. City Engineer Miller made the motion to accept the bid of Trans-Tech for $72,000.00 if all the proper forms are included, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 9:45 a.m., seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carried unanimously.
