JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1998
In the absence of Mayor Galligan, Sewage Office Manager Golc~man called the meeting to order
at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: Fire Chief Mike Smith sitting
in for Manager Goldman and Parks Superintendent Elliott sitting in for City Engineer Bob
Miller.
Also present were: Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin, Police Chief Mike Pavey,Wastewater
Treatment Assistant Director Traylor, Animal Shelter Asst. Manager Rick Broy, and Clerk
Lynne Kempf.
Parks Supt. Elliott made the motion to approve the sewage claim as presented, seconded by Fire
Chief Smith and earned unanimously.
Parks Supt. Elliott made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Fire Chief
Smith and carried unanimously.
Parks Supt. Elliott made the motion to approve the minutes of 9-28-98 and 10-5-98, seconded by
Fire Chief Smith and carried unanimously.
HANDICAPPED PARKING REQUEST
Herman Polston who resides at 307 E. Maple Street requested a handicapped parking sign in
front of his home. Police Chief Pavey will check out this location. Parks Supt. Elliott made the
motion to approve the handicapped parking sign pending Chief Pavey's recommendation,
seconded by Fire Chief Smith and carded unanimously.
SPRING STREET
Nathan Grimes of Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz recommended rejecting the two bids opened
October 5, 1998 on the Spring Street Intersection and Streetscape Improvements. He said the two
bidders were unresponsive and the bids were over the estimated cost. He said the project will be
rebid. Parks Supt. Elliott made the motion to reject the two bids for Spring Street and rebid,
seconded by Fire Chief Smith and carded unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Parks
Supt. Elliott made the motion to adjourn at 9:50 a.m., seconded by Fire Chief Smith
and carded unanimously.
