JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, JUNE 15, 1998
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members
present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Planning and Development Director Jim Urban.
Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Sewage Office Manager Bob
Goldman, Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Scott Timmennan, Fire Chief Mike
Smith, Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin, Animal Shelter Manager Rick Broy, Building
Commissioner Larry Decker, Parks Assist. Director Donnie Poole, City Attorney Anne Marie
Galligan, Police Police Detective Jack Fleeman Deputy Mayor Phil McCanley, Fire Chief Mike
Smith, Redevelopment Asst. Director Julie Hinton, and Clerk Lynne Kempf.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Planning
and Development Director Jim Urban and carded unanimously.
Planning and Development Director Urban made the motion to approve the minutes as presented,
seconded by City Engineer Miller, and carried unanimously.
CITATION-417 E.MAPLE STREET
No new information has been gotten pertaining to this citation regarding Mr. Muncy and his
bankruptcy. City Attorney Galligan said she should have the information she's waiting for next
week.
CITATION- 121 W. COURT AVENUE
Building Commissioner Decker said the Historic Board conveyed to him that Mr. Waiz, who
owns the building at 121 W. Court Avenue was supposed to construct his windows and his brick
according to what to he had discussed with and agreed upon with the Historic Board. Instead, he
did them a different way without consulting the Historic Board. Mr. Waiz's attorney Bill Mosley
appeared before the Board as did the building tenant by the name of Shawn Wright. Attorney
Mosley agreed to meet with the Historic Board and try to work out this problem.
CITATION- 1525 WAVERLY
Building Commissioner Decker said that the owner of this property, Mr. Torma, has made very
little progress towards cleaning up this property properly since he appeared before the Board 2
weeks ago. Director Urban made the motion to start legal proceedings against him and a $100.00
fine per day, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
NOTICE OF VIOLATION-WYANDOT
City Attorney Galligan said that at a previous Board of Public Works meeting, approval was
given to give Wyandot a Notice of Violation for a spill to the storm sewer. She said the Board did
that mistakenly as the City does not regulate spills to storm sewers (as opposed to sanitary or
combined sewers.) She said Wyandot contacted IDEM about the spill and that is the proper
procedure. She requested that the Board revoke the NOV as we do not have jurisdiction on this
matter. Director Urban made the motion to revoke the Notice of Violation-#WY98-02, seconded
by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
REVIVAL CRUSADE
Reverend Robert Grant asked the Board's approval to hold a Revival Crusade July 5-1 lth from
7:00-10:30 in Henry Lansden Park. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the revival
contingent upon the park being available, seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously.
RESIDENT PARKING
Ann Brown of 514 Graham Street asked the Board's approval of a resident only parking sign.
Major Fleeman said he would have the situation checked out and talk to the neighbor parking
beside her house. If the neighbor is not in agreement, Ms. Brown will be given a resident only
parking sign.
RELEASE OF LETTER OF CREDIT
City Engineer Miller met with Tony Shuler at Elke Pointe and made the motion to release
$30,000.00 of the letter of credit with National City Bank, seconded by Director Urban and
carded unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director
Urban made the motion to adjourn at 10:10 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded
unanimously.
