HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-27-1998MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, APRIL 27, 1998 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Planning and Development Director Jim Urban. Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Kevin Wright of EMC, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Police Detective Jack Fleeman, Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin, Animal Shelter Director Jim Gillenwater, Parks Director Rick Elliott, City Attorney Anne Made Galligan and Clerk Lyrme Kempf. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously. PIKE City Engineer Miller said he met with Metzger Electric and a solution has been found to the problem at the intersection. Correcting the problem will start this week. QUOTES Street Commissioner Bob Ervin presented quotes on a cab and chassis. The quoters were: UHL $37,828.93, Municipal Equipment $49,635.00, Ky. Truck Sales $38,450.00, Peterson Truck Center $37,651.00, and All State Ford $40,271.00. Director Urban made the motion to take the quotes under advisement until next week, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. Quotes were also presented on a Packer Body. They were: Municipal Equipment $36,590.00 and Heil $31,755.00. NORTHAVEN TRAFFIC PROBLEM Clifford Owens of 1310 Sportsman Drive appeared before the Board requesting a stop sign at Reeds Lane and Gail Drive. He requested also that the yield sign at Harmony Lane be changed to a stop sign. Mayor Galligan said this would be looked into. K-MART PLAZA CHURCH SERVICE James McNutt of Bethlehem Temple requested permission to hold a 2 hour outdoor service in the K-Mart parking lot on April 30th from 7-9 p.m. Mr. McNutt said the church has leased the Framing Express building. Mayor Galligan said the lot is privately owned by Marshall Realty but didn't think there would be a problem with the outdoor service. ROADBLOCK Louis Rosbottom requested approval to hold a roadblock at the intersection by Ice Cream Willie's.The proceeds will go towards helping fund a championship wrestling meet. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the roadblock on Friday, May 8th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 9th from 9:30 - 2:00 p.m., seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously. ROADBLOCK Pam Edwards asked permission to hold a roadblock for the "Down Under Hoops Classic" on May 15 from 4-7 p.m. and May 16th from 10-2 p.m. at Market and Walnut Street, Hamburg Pk. and Dutch Ln., Holmans Ln. and Chas. Pk., Eighth and Main, and Allison Lane and Middle Road. Director Urban made the motion to approve the proposed locations, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. SLUDGE PUMP REPAIR Kevin Wright of EMC requested approval to repair the #2 RAS Pump in the amount of $9,066.64. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the pump repair, seconded by Director Urban and carded unanimously. LEASE ON POLICE CARS City Attomey Galligan asked the Boards approval of the lease on five new police cars in the amount of $34,000.00 annually. Director Urban made the motion to approve the lease payment on the police cars, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. There being no fimher buSiness to come before the BOard of Public Works and Safety, Director Urban made the mOtion to adjourn at 10:20 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
