HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-23-1998MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, MARCH 23, 1998. Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Planning and Development Director Jim Urban. Also present were: Parks Director Rick Elliott, Street Commisssioner Bobby Ervin, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Scott Timmerman, Animal Shelter Manager Rick Broy,Fire Chief Mike Smith, Kevin Wright of EMC, Redevelopment Secretary Donna Kammeyer,Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Police Chief Mike Pavey, and Clerk Lyrme Kempf. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by Director Urban and carded unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously. BUTTONWOOD ISLANDS Mayor Galligan said that the previously discussed islands in Section 7 of Buttonwood need to come out. Director Urban made the motion to deny the islands in Section 7 of Buttonwood, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. PEACELY STREET City Engineer Miller said he hasn't met with Wyandot yet. He will be contacting them this week. STOP SIGN John Swinney is requesting a stop sign at Chestnut Street and Graham Street. After some discussion Mayor Galligan said it will be looked into further. CONCERT ON THE RIVER Dale Orem requested closing off Riverside Drive from Spring Street to Pearl Street on Friday, July 17th for a concert on the river featuring the "Windjammers". Director Urban made the motion to close Riverside Drive on Friday to Monday morning, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. BESTWAY TRUCKiNG Ronnie Hattabaugh appeared before the Board requesting entrance signs on Hamburg Pike. Director Urban made the motion to approve the entrance signs on Hamburg Pike, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. CYSTIC FIBROSIS Twyman Patterson asked permission to hold a walk for Cystic Fibrosis on Saturday, May 16th in Oak Park. Mayor Galligan said he could provide a police officer but that the County would need to approve the walk. INTER-CITY ROAD CLAIM Redevelopment Secretary Donna Kammeyer presented a claim for approval in the amount of $5,625.00 for the Allison Lane improvement to be paid to Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claim for $5,625.00, seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously. WATT STREET Mayor Galligan said part of Watt Street needs to be blocked off on April 1st. for the Building Authority. Director Urban made the motion to approve blocking off Watt Street on April 1st, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. CARNEGIE LIBRARY A representative of the Estopinal Group presented a Change Order for approval in the amount of $1,025.00 (copy attached). Director Urban made the motion to approve the Change Order for $1,025.00, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Urban made the motion to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
