HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-02-1998MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, iNDIANA MONDAY, MARCH 2, 1998. Mayor Thomas R. Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were:City Engineer Bob Miller and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, sitting in for Planning and Development Director Jim Urban. Also present were: Parks Director Rick Elliott, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Wastewater Treatment Plant Asst. Director Scott Timmerman, and Clerk Lyrme Kempf. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 2-17-98 as presented, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. TAXI CAB SERVICE Police Chief Pavey said he spoke with Mr. Ahmed this morning and he will fax the proper paperwork that City Attorney Galligan will need. OLE STONER PLACE John Toombs of Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz asked the Board's approval to sign an agreement with REMC for electric service in the amount of $3,878.16 or $129.27 per month for 30 months. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the sign up for electric service for $129.27 per month, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. LETTER OF CREDIT City Engineer Miller asked approval of release of credit for 4 items at Kingsfield Subdivision in the amount of $38,340.00. The items are: Dirt excavation- $8,200.00, Stone for Streets 5,000.00, Storm Sewers $9,610.00 and Sanitary Sewers-S15,530.00. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the release of letter of credit, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. GRIT PUMP Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Timmerman requested the Board's approval to repair a grit pump at the Treatment Plant. The majority of the repair has already been done on it. The estimated cost is $2,400.00. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the repair of the grit pump and purchase of a mechanical seal, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. K-MART KIDS RACE AGAINST DRUGS Mayor Galligan said the event will take place at the K-Mart store #3221 on Hwy. 62 on June 13th from 9-6 p.m. and on June 14th from 12-6 p.m.. The rain date is June 15 from 3-8 p.m. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve this event, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Urban made the motion to adjourn at 10:30 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
