HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-23-1998MiNUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY FEBRUARY 23, 1998. Mayor Thomas R. Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Planning and Development Director Jim Urban, and City Engineer Bob Miller. Also present were: Parks Director Rick Elliott, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Wastewater Treatment Plant Asst. Director Scott Timmerman, Redevelopment Secretary Donna Kammeyer,Fire Chief Mike Smith, City Attorney Anne Marie Galligan, and Clerk Lynne Kempf. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Planning and Development Director Jim Urban and carded unanimously. TAXI CAB PERMIT Sideig Ahmed of Atlantic Medical Transportation requested approval of a taxi cab permit. Mayor Galligan advised him to contact City Attorney Galligan on the Taxi Cab Ordinance. Mr. Armed said he had the proper forms required. Director Urban made the motion to approve the taxi permit for handicapped people pending review by the City Attorney and the Police Chief, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. MEIJER COMMERCIAL Mina Davis asked the Board to approve a Meijer commercial to be shot along Riverside Drive. The Board said there would be no problem with this. KINGFISH Jim Cowgill, on Kingfish's behalf requested approval to sell alcohol on the Kingfish parking lot along Riverside Drive on the day of Thnnder Over Louisville. The parking lot will be fenced in. Director Urban made the motion to approve the beer garden on Saturday, April 18th at Kingfish, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. VENDORS FOR THUNDER Planning and Development Director Urban spoke in regards to the vendors for Thunder Over Louisville. He would like to establish up to 10 areas on Spring Street to be rented to vendors for $75.00 each. Director Urban made the motion to approve accepting up to 10 spaces on Spring Street for Thunder Over Louisville, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. Director Urban made the motion to increase the car rate to park for Thunder Over Louisville on the Piggyback property to $20.00 per car, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. COUNSEL FOR CLARK COUNTY REGIONAL SEWER DISTRICT City Attorney Galligan said the Jeffersonville Sewer Utility needs to retain counsel with reference to the potential formation of the Clark County Regional Sewer District. City Engineer Miller made the motion to retain Parvin Price fxom Bose, McKiuney, and Evans law firm in Indianapolis to protect our interest in regards to sewers in the sewer district, seconded by Director Urban and carded unanimously. CARNEGIE LIBRARY Redevelopment Secretary Donna Kammeyer asked approval of payment to Dallman Systems to install a security system at the Carnegie Library. The total contract is $2,246.00. Director Urban made the motion to approve the contract with Dallman Systems for a security system, amended to include smoke detectors, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. MEDICAL CLAIM Director Urban made the motion to approve a medical claim from the self-insurance in the amount of $150.20, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried uanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Urban made the motion to adjourn at 10:30 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
