Mayor Thomas IL Galligan, called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer City Bob Miller, and Planning and Development Director Jim Urban. Also present were: Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Building Commissioner Pinkston, EMC Assistant Director Kevin Wright, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Safety Director George Trembly, Animal Shelter Director Jim Gillenwater, Redevelopment Secretary Donna Kammeyer, and Clerk Lynne Kempf. BIDS. John Toombs of Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz said bids were taken on the Louise Street, Phase 3 Sanitary Sewers. Mr. Toombs said their estimate was' $51,100.00 and the low bid was $44,609.75 from L.D. Rice Construction. City Engineer Miller made the motion to award the bid of Louise Street, Phase 3 to L.D. Rice Construction for $44,609.75, seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously. ( see attached ~[et~er) John Toombs also presented 2 contracts for approval. One was on the Perrin Lane storm sewer and the other is the Loma Vista Sanitary Sewer. Director Urban made the motion to approve the 2 contracts by Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz contingent upon the City Attorney's review, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. MATERIAL SYSTEM Builder Roger Schmidt presented to the Board an alternative material system for doing foundations and slabs and asked the Board's approval to use this system under the Building Code. Mayor Galligan along with Director Urban recommended he take this matter up with the Housing Appeals Board and the Mechanical Control Board. LETTER OF CREDIT Bob Missi requested approval of a letter of credit to be released on the Sanitary Sewers for Sunnyside Town Homes. City Engineer Miller said the storm sewer will need to be inspected also. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the letter of credit for $10,000.00 contingent upon the City Attorney's review, seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously. CLAIMS PA_~_GE 2_ JANUAR_y 26~_1998_ Redevelopment Secretary Donna Kammeyer requested approval on 2 Inter-City Road claims. One was for Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz in the amount of $9,809.00 for the Allison Lane sanitary sewer. The other was for Butler, Fairman, and Seufert in the amount of $4,400.00 for engineering services performed in connection with the new Inter-City road bridge and approach intersections over ~-65. Director Urban made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. RADIO PURCHASE EMC Assistant Director Kevin Wright requested approval to purchase 2 new radios for approximately $1,500.00. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the purchase, seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Urban made the motion to adjourn at 10:35 A.M., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
