HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-22-1999MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 1999 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman and City Engineer Bob Miller. Also present were: Fire Chief Mike Smith, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Planning and Development Director Jana Ecker, Officer Rodden, Animal Control Officer Henderson, Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Traylor, Street Commissioner Grant, Assistant Director of Redevelopment Duggins, City Attorney Galligan, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the minutes of 11-8-99 and 11-15-99 as presented, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. CITATION Building Commissioner Decker told the Board that he has sent several notices and a citation to Taco Bell for not paying their grease trap fee. Engineer Miller made the motion to fine Taco Bell $100.00 plus the $25.00 grease trap fee, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. 2309 BISHOP LANE Ted Edgell of 2308 Crums Lane came before the Board in regards to a fence on the property at 2309 Bishop Lane. He said the couple who own the property are elderly, one has passed away and the other is in a nursing home. Mrl Edgell said the fence on the other property is built up and is keeping water from draining which is causing water to stand on Mr. Edgell's property. Mr. Edgell requested that the fence be moved back in line when the property is sold. Mayor Galligan told Mr. Edgell that a pipe is being run in that area and a catch basin put in that will help the problem. Building Commissioner Decker said a survey needs to be done to be sure the fence is in the proper place. Mayor Galligan said he will look into this and get back with Mr. Edgell. JINGLE BELL CHASE RUN Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the Jingle Bell Chase Run on December 11, 1999 from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 alto., seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. CREEKSTONE RIDGE Engineer Miller said the work hasn't been completed on the Creekstone Ridge detention basin so no action was taken on the Acceptance of Dedication. TRANSFER OF PROPERTY City Attorney Galligan said that appraisals have been received on the old Animal Shelter property and the Quarry Road property. The appraisal for the old Animal Shelter property is $43,000.00 and the appraisal for the Quarry Road property is $66,000.00. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the conveyance of the old Animal Shelter property to Mr. Merkel in promotion of the economical development project on Quarry Road. RESOLUTIONS Attorney Galligan said the appraisals have been received on the properties being condemned on Utica-Sellersburg Road. The names of property owners and the damages are: Parcel 17 Wanda Kendall- $18,500.00 Parcel 19 Hollis McLeland- $13,400.00 Parcel 6 Joe Jackson- $3,763.00 Parcel 11 Clinton Colvin- $1,971.00 Parcel 18 Sonja Jackson- $35,500.00 Attorney Galligan said the remonstrance is set for December 6, 1999. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the appraisals, seconded by Engineer Miller and canied unanimously. LUTHER JAMES PROPERTY Attorney Galligan said she is going to set up the remonstrance hearing on Luther James property on December 6, 1999 and will notify him through his attorney. The appraisal for his property is $7,500.00 for one acre across his parcel. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the appraisal, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. TERRACE LAWN PROJECT Planning and Zoning Director Ecker asked the Board to approve the Terrace Lawn Project agreement with the State. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the Terrace Lawn Project agreement, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. PARKING LOT Parks Superintendent Elliott asked the Boards permission to have the City pave the parking lot off Franklin Square at the Field House. It will be paid for from the Parks Department budget. Mayor Galligan said this would be fine. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 10:20 a.m., seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously.
