HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-30-1999MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, AUGUST 30, 1999 Sewage Manager Goldman sitting in for Mayor Tom Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Street Commissioner Ervin sitting in for Manager Bob Goldman. Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Jim Traylor, Personnel Director Jerralyn Ellis, Planning and Development Director Jana Ecker, Safety Director Marvin Grant, Assistant Director of Redevelopment David Duggins, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Detective Fleeman, and Clerk Lyrme Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of August 23, 1999 as presented, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Street Commissioner Ervin and carried unanimously. CLARK CO. SPECIAL OLYMPICS Bobbie Bingeli asked permission to hold a roadblock on Saturday, September 18th at Court and Spring Streets and Ice Cream Willie's intersection. Manager Goldman told her that the city no longer permits roadblocks. He suggested that she contact the County Commissioner's about a roadblock in the county. DELTA ENVIRONMENTAL Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Traylor informed the Board that he had checked out the unit talked about at last week's meeting at 1616 Highway 62 and he recommends that the sewer department bill Delta Environmental only for water. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve reducing the sewer charges at 1616 Highway 62, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. ATOMIC ABSORPTION UNIT Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Traylor told the Board that he has an atomic absorption unit that needs to be disposed of. He has not been able to find anyone who wants it. Commissioner Ervin made the motion to declare it worthless and scrap it, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. MOTORCYCLE GROUP Parks Director Elliott said the motorcycle group represented by David Horton last week has asked that the date be changed for their gathering to September llth, 1999 fi.om 12-4 p.m. Commissioner Ervin made the motion to change the date to September 11, 1999, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 10:00 A.M., seconded by Commissioner Ervin and carded unanimously.
