JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, JULY 12, 1999
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members
present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman.
Also present were: Fire Chief Mike Smith, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater
Treatment Plant Director Traylor, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Personnel Director Ellis,
Animal Control Officer Henderson, Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Ewton, Safety Director
Grant, Planning and Development Director Jana Ecker, and Clerk Lynne Kempf.
A~LEY STREETLIGHT REQUEST
A request was made by Lynn Whitson for street lights at the alley's in the Rose Hill area. Mayor
Galligan said he would get a list of the alleys and the lights would be installed.
Theresa Fisher, another resident in the Rose Hill area requested that drains be put in the
handicapped ramps because of pooling when it rains. She said a sidewalk is needed on Mulberry
Street near MaPle Street and Court Street. She also requested having the Parks Dept. clean up the
park after softball games. The Mayor said these items will be looked into.
REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT FUND
Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Traylor said that the contract the City has with EMC has a
requirement that $100,000.00 be set aside for repair and replacement. Director Traylor said that
$52,141.98 has been underspent in this fund and is being held there. Traylor said he has a couple
of large repairs going on at the plant at this time having to do with Clarifyers. He recommends
holding the money a little longer in order to pay for the repairs. Engineer Miller made the motion
to hold the funds to make the necessary repairs, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried
unanimously.

Ms. Blake asked the status of the inspection of 215 Market Street and the Indiana Hotel. Building
Commissioner Decker said regular inspections aren't done. They are only done when complaints
are brought up within. Decker said he cannot infringe upon invasion of property, but said he
would look into the number of people living at these locations.
RON ELLIS
Councilman Ron Ellis voiced concern about a couple of houses on Locust Street that are in
disrepair. Building Commissioner Decker said he is aware of the problems. He said one of the
owner is ill and is not able to alleviate the problem fight now, but Decker said he is looking into
both of them.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Sewage
Office Manager Goldman made the motion to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Engineer
Miller and carded unanimously.
