JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, MAY 24, 1999
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members
present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman.
Also present were: Fire Chief Mike Smith, Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin, Police Chief
Pavey, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater Treatment Plant Asst. Director
Traylor, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Personnel Director Ellis, Animal Control Officer
Henderson, Planning and Development Director Jana Ecker, and Clerk Lyune Kempf.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Manager
Goldman and carried unanimously.
Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the minutes of 5-17-99 as
presented, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
OVERLOOK WEDDING
Lajena Evans of 1506 Brigman Avenue asked the Boards permission to block one lane of
Riverside Drive (right by Overlook) on June 12th for a wedding. Mayor Galligan said this would
be no problem.
RESIDENT PARKING
Police Chief Pavey requested a resident only parking sign for 1242 Firwood Drive. City Engineer
Miller made the motion to approve the resident only parking sign, seconded by Manager
Goldman and carried unanimously.
INDOT
Redevelopment Grant Consultant Kathy Haller informed the Board that a letter of intent is due to
the Indiana Department of Transportation for Passive Grade Crossing projects. The money will
be granted the year 2000 to be spent in one year. City Engineer Miller will fill out the required
paperwork.
953 CHESTNUT STREET
A resident of 953 Chestnut Street said the sidewalk and curb in fi'ont of his house needs
repairing. Engineer Miller informed him of the procedure to have this taken care of.
NEW HOPE LETTER
Mayor Galligan read a letter from New Hope Services thanking the police and fire dept for their
good work.
VACANT BUILDING
Fire Chief Smith informed the Board that the old vacant Penney's building on Chesmut St. and
Spring Street is falling down and Chief Smith thinks it should be condemned. Chief Smith gave
Mayor Galligan pictures of the building.
FUEL
Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Mike Ewton reported to the Board that more research needs to
be done on the fuel problem with Jackson-Jenuings Enterprises. City Attorney Galligan has been
briefed on the situation.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Sewage
Office Manager Goldman made the motion to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Engineer
Miller and carried unanimously.
