HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-10-1999MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, MAY 10, 1999 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman. Also present were: Fire Chief Mike Smith, Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater Treatment Plant Asst. Director Traylor, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Personnel Director Ellis, Animal Control Officer Henderson, Planning and Development Director Jana Ecker, City Attorney Galligan, and Clerk Lynne Kempf. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the sewage claims as presented, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. VENDOR PERMIT Mary Riley asked the Board to approve a vendor pen'nit for her to have a concession stand selling hot dogs, etc at Colston Park. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the vendor permit, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. NO PARKING Parks Supt. Elliott requested extending the no parking area on Wall Street at the northwest comer to allow servicing of the Warder Park Port-O-Let. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve extending the no parking area, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. CRUSADE FOR CHILDREN Fire Chief Smith presented a list of locations for the Crusade for Children collection (list is attached) and asked for approval of them. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the locations, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. SEWER TAP Manager Goldman said that Mike Collins of 113 W. Loma Vista wants to finance a tap-in. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the financed tap-in, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. 303 MOCKINGBIRD CIRCLE The resident of 303 Mockingbird had sewer backup and wants to be compensated. Attomey Galligan is waiting to get a report from EMC. Wastewater Treatment Plant Asst. Director Wilke thinks this is a homeowner problem in the laterals. Engineer Miller said her lateral is too flat. Attorney Galligan will look into this further. CABLE LINE Nellie Knowland asked if the cable line which is hanging down at the apmtments at Fairview and Magnolia Avenue could be checked into. Attorney Galligan said she would look into this. STRIPING City Engineer Miller had a request to paint some additional yellow lines in the area in front of Sonic by Riddle Street. Attorney Galligan said there have been numerous complaints about this area. Mayor Galligan said the police need to start ticketing more for speeders. Yellow lines will be painted for no parking in front of Sonic by Riddle Street. ORDINANCE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER Building Commissioner Decker introduced to the Board Mr. John Monihon who will be the new Ordinance Enforcement Officer. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to adjourn at 10:20 a.m., seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
