HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-29-1999MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE. INDIANA MONDAY. MARCH 29. 1999 Mayor Galligan called the tneeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman. Also presem were: Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Jim Traylor. Fire Chief Mike Smith. Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin. Animal Shelter Control Officer William Henderson. Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Police Sargeant Garry Pavey. Plan Director Jana Ecker, Safety Director John Palmer, Redevelopment Secretary Donna Kammeyer. City Attorney Anne Marie Galligan, Police Chief Mike Pavey, and Clerk Suzy Bass. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of March 22 1999 as presented, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. TRAFFIC PROBLEMS Council person Barbara Wilson appeared before the Board with complaints of motorists speeding and running the stop sign on Perrin Lane. Chief Pavey said that he would step up patrol in the area. Council person Wilson also informed the Board of concerns from residents in Eastgate Subdivision. They feel that when Meijers opens, there will be more traffic cutting through their neighborhood. Council person Wilson asked that a counter be installed to check the traffic flow now and then when Meijers opens. Engineer Miller said that he would take care of installing the counter from Highway 62 to Eastgate. INTER CITY ROAD CLAIM Redevelopmem Secretary Donna Kammayer presented a claim for approval for Jacobi, Tombs and Lanz in the amount of $833.56 for Phase ] The motion was made by Manager Goldman to approve the request as presented seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. THUNDER ROAD CLOSURES Sargeant Pavey appeared before the Board with a request of road closures for Friday April 16 and Saturday April 17. 1999 for Thunder (letter attached). He informed the Board that the businesses in the area are pleased with the cooperation they are receiving from the City in regards to parking for their customers. The motion was made by Engineer Miller to approve the closures, seconded by Manager Goldman mad carried unanimously. SQUAREDANCERS Nellie Knowland informed all present that the Square Dance Club will be celebrating 43 yrs on April 10, 1999 at Eastside Christian Church in Clarksville. She invited all to attend. DOGPROBLEMS Charlie White informed the Board that progress has been made in regards to the dog problems on Louise St that was addressed at a previous meeting. He has received calls from residents complaining of dogs barking all night. Mr. White inforn~ed the residents to call the police because there is a noise and nuisance ordinance. Animal Control Officer Henderson informed the Board that he tried to capture the dog for two hours this past weekend but the dog did not leave the property. He will continue to watch for the dog. This dog has bitten more than once. There being no ~rther business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Manager Goldman made the motion to adjourn at 9:56 AM seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
