HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-25-1999MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, JANUARY 25, 1999 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:45 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman. Also present were: Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Planning Director Jana Ecker, Parks Director Rick Elliott, Safety Director John Palmer, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Street Commissioner :Bobby Ervin, Redevelopment Secretary Donna Kammeyer,Animal Shelter Asst. Manager Rick Broy, City Attorney Anne Marie Galligan,and Clerk Lynne Kempf. S~wage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the minutes of 1-19-99 and as presented, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. INTER-CITY ROAD CLAIM Redevelopment Secretary Kammeyer presented a claim to the Board for approval. The claim is to to pay Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz in the amount of $2,253.72 on the Jeff portion of the Allison Lane Inter-City Road Project. Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the claim, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. CITATION-639 MAIN STREET Kevin Abrahamson was cited to the Board by Building Commissioner Decker because no progress has been made at the house he owns at 639 Main Street. Building Commissioner Decker said he has received numerous complaints on this address. Building Commissioner Decker would like to get permission to obtain 3 quotes to tear the house .do{vn. Mr. Abrahamson said he has contacted someone already about tearing down the house partially. After much discussion, Mayor Galligan gave Mr. Abrahamson 30 days to tear down the rear portion of the house and have the debris removed. The Mayor said if the rear of the house is not down in 30 days, the City will have to have it tom down. Building Commissioner Decker will inspect the house once a month beginning 3-I-99 to chart any progress. Engineer Miller made the motion to give Mr. Abrahamson 30 days to tear down the rear of the house and remove the debris at 639 Main Street and to have Mr. Abrahamson contact Building Commissioner Decker once a month, beginning 3-1-99, seconded by Manager Goldman and carded unanimously. PRESSURE TRANSDUCER CONTROLS Wastewater Treatment Plant Director TraYlor told the Board that the Crums Lane and Middle School Lift Stations need Pressure Transducer Controls. Director Traylor got a quote from Delta Electric Co., Inc. for $6,900.00. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the Pressure Transducer Controls with a contingency on the Middle School Lift Station based on the opinion from Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. PLANT WATER SYSTEM Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Traylor asked the Board's approval to replace a broken pipe on the plant's water system. He wants to replace with a copper, braided stainless steel pipe With vibration protection. Quotes were obtained and the low quote was from TnT Technologies for $2,725.00. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve TnT Technologies quote of $2,725.00, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. CSX RAILROAD-UTICA-SELLERSBURG ROAD City Attorney Galligan asked the Board to approve an Improvement Order for CSX Railroad to be completed in 30 days on Utica-Sellersburg Road. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve sending the Improvement Order, seconded by Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. RESIDENT PARKING SIGN Police Chief Pavey recommended that the Board approve a resident only parking sign at 713 E. Chestnut St. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the resident-only parking sign, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. PUBLIC HEARING Parks Superintendent Elliott notified the Board of a Public Heating on January 26, 1999 at 3:00 p.m on building a new community center in Claysburg.
