A RESOLUTION OF INTEREST IN PURCHASING THE PROPERTY
LOCATED AT 1613 EAST EIGHTH STREET, JEFFERSONVILLE
f/k/a EASTLAWN SCHOOL
WHEREAS, the property formerly known as Eastlawn School, located at 1613 East Eighth
Street in Jeffersonville, Indiana (the "Property"), was purchased, remodeled and occupied by the
community action agency known as Hoosier Valley; and
WHEREAS, Hoosier Valley took bankruptcy several years ago and the Property is an asset in
the bankruptcy estate; and
WHEREAS, Community Action of Southern Indiana ("CASI"), the successor community
action agency to Hoosier Valley, has occupied the Property for the past three years; and
WHEREAS, CASI provides crucial services, including but not limited to the Head Start
program, to Jeffersonville and the surrounding community; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana (the "Council") believes
that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Jeffersonville that CASI continue to occupy the Property.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Council is interested in purchasing
the Property from the Hoosier Valley bankruptcy estate; and
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the Jeffersonville Board of
Public Works and Safety (the "Board") as purchasing agent for the City is hereby instructed to appoint
two (2) professional appraisers to appraise the Property; and
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board shall give a copy
of both appraisals to the Council.
