HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-29-2002MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JULY 29, 2002 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Mayor Assistant White~ Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Gavin, Personnel Director Ellis, Administrator Rich Davis, Interim Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Street Commissioner Grant, Clerk Treasurer Wilder, Animal Shelter Office Manager Gartelman, Planning and Zoning Director Ecker, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Police Chief Pavey, Fire Chief Mike Smith, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Mayor Assistant White and carried unanimously. The minutes of July 8, 2002 and July 15, 2002 were distributed to be approved at the next meeting FIRE TRUCK BID Fire Chief Smith told the Board that Pierce Manufacturing out of Appleton, Wisconsin was chosen to supply the new fire truck. Mayor Galligan asked if they were the low bidder and Chief Smith said they were not the low bidder by about $20,000.00 to $22,000.00. Chief Smith said they use Pierce Manufacturing now and the committee thought consistency was important. Engineer Miller made the motion to accept and award the fire truck bid to Pierce Manufacturing contingent upon discussion with the City Attorney to make sure proper procedure has been followed, seconded by Mayor Assistant White and carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS Building Commissioner Gavin told the Board he wants to postpone the $25.00 per day fine on Robert Martin who owns Fast Eddie's at 1400 Spring Street. Building Commissioner Gavin said Mr. Martin has been working hard to get the area cleaned up. The Board agreed to give him an extra week without a fine. Chief There being no further business to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to adjourn at 9:50 a.m. seconded by Mayor Assistant White and carried unanimously.
