HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-22-2002MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA APRIL 22, 2002 In Mayor Galligan's absence, his assistant Dustin White called the meeting to order at 9:54 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Walz and City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Personnel Director Ellis, Wastewater Treatment Assistant Wright, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Fire Chief Smith, Police Chief Pavey, Building Commissioner Gavin, City Attorney Galligan, Street Commissioner Grant, Mayor Assistant White, Clerk Treasurer Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Parks Superintendent Elliott, and Deputy Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Councilperson Waiz made the motion to approve the minutes of 3-18-02, 3-25-02, 4-1-02, r--and 4-8-02 as presented, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. POPEYE' S Planning and Zoning Director Ecker told the Board that Popeye's is to refile for their sign application. Director Ecker recommended that this be tabled until after the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting. Engineer Miller made the motion to table this matter for two weeks, seconded by Councilperson Waiz and carried unanimously. RESIDENT PARKING AT 305 PEARL STREET Dawn Clark appeared before the Board on behalf of her parents to request a "resident only" parking sign at 305 Pearl Street. ChiefPavey recommended approval of the sign. Engineer Miller made the motiOn to approve the sign, seconded by Councilperson Waiz and carried unanimously. 403 MYRTLE STREET James R. Smith who resides on Myrtle Street said there are some residents who have basketball goals sitting at the street and kids are not moving out the street for passersby. He said he has asked them to move but they continue to play in the street. He said these goals are at 106 Williams Street, 203 Williams Street, and the 400 block of Williams Street. Mayor Assistant White asked Building Commissioner Gavin to check these addresses so they can be ~-"notified. 321 MYRTLE STREET Mark Bishop who resides on Myrtle Street asked the status of the Hack property at 315 and 315 lA Myrtle Street. Building Commissioner Gavin said these properties have been condemned and they have been notified by Registered Mail. Mr. Hack was cited to appear at the 4-22-02 BPW meeting but didn't show. Councilperson Waiz asked if all trash would be removed from the lots and Building Commissioner Gavin said it would. Engineer made the motion to have the trailers removed immediately and a lien placed for the cost to remove them, seconded by Councilperson Waiz and carried unanimously. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson at 10:3 0 a.m.,~ secon/~led by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
