HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-R-051 2 3 4 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-R- A RESOLUTION TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF LOCATING CITY HALL IN THE OLD CITIZENS BANK BUILDING 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville presently leases office space in the City-County Building; WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville has recently considered re-locating its offices to a building of its own; WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville has considered the Quadrangle and 10~h and Spring as possible locations for a new city hall; WHEREAS, the property commonly known as the Old Citizens Bank Building located at the comer of Spring Street and Court Avenue in downto~vn Jeffersonville is now for sale; WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville desires that the Old Citizens Bank Building be considered as a possible location in addition to the Quadrangle and 10~h and Spring for a new city hall due to its doxvntown location and historical nature; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, that the Common Council hereby believes that the Old Citizens Bank Building shall be considered as a possible location for a new city hall; IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, that the Council hereby establishes a special committee to study the feasibility of the Old Citizens Bank Building as a possible new city hall in addition to the Quadrangle and l0th and Spring locations already under consideration; IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, that the special committee shall prepare a report to the Council as to the feasibility of the Old Citizens Bank Building including purchase costs, renovation costs, and practicality as opposed to other locations under consideration; IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, that the special committee sl~all consist of three (3) council members, and the Director of Redevelopment. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, that the special committee shall submit its findings to the Council within thirty (30) days.
