HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-27-2000MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA NOVEMBER 27, 2000 Mayor Galligan's called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: City Attorney Anne Galligan, Animal Shelter Director Cindy Keller, Councilperson Les Merkley, Councilperson Vicki Conlin, Police ChiefPavey, Personnel Director Ellis, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Vehicle Maintenance Fore Mike Ewton, Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Councilperson Ellis, Wastewater Treatment Assistant Director Wilkey, Street Commissioner Gram, Fire Chief Mike Smith, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 11-13-2000 and 11-20-2000 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. PROMOTION Fire Chief Smith asked the Board to approve promoting firefighter Marvena Allen to the position of Sergeant. The position became available when firefighter Don Davidson retired. Engineer Miller made the motion tO approve the promotion of Marvena Allen to Sergeant, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. ACCOUNTABILITY PROGRAM Fire Chief Smith presented to the Board a revised accountability program using snap rings. Chief Smith said the program will work more efficiently in keeping track of who is on duty. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the revised accountability program, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. CITATION-305 E. MAPLE STREET Building Commissioner Decker told the Board he has sent numerous letters to William Froman and Vikki Williams in regard to the property at 305 E. Maple Street needing exterior maintenance. Building Commissioner Decker's recommendation is for the owner to have an acceptable plan for repairs or comply by January 1, 2001 or a $100.00 fine per day will be assessed until they comply. The fine is to accumulate every month with a lien on the property until it is in compliance. The lien is not to exceed the fair market value of the property. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve Building Commissioner Decker's recommendation, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. PARKING PROBLEM Police ChiefPavey told the Board he checked out the parking problem at 1508 Mitchell Avenue. He said that Lifespring patients am parking in front of Mr. Purcell's driveways at 1508 Mitchell Avenue. ChiefPavey said a resident only parking sign may help. Mayor Galligan asked Street Commissioner Grant to paint Mr. Purcell a parking spot on the street. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 10:00 a.m. seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously.
