SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
NOVEMBER 13, 2000
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those
members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Councilperson Frantz.
Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Ewton, Building Commissioner
Larry Decker, Safety Director Rodden, RedevelopmentAssistant Director Duggins,
Street Commissioner Grant, Asst. Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Wilkey, Animal
Shelter Director Keller, City Attorney Anne Galligan, Parks Superintendent Elliott,
Police ChiefPavey, Fire Chief Mike Smith, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by
Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 11-6-00 as presented,
seconded by Personnel Director Ellis and carried unanimously.
VETERANS PARKWAY
John Minta who is the Town of Clarksville's Council President informed the Board that
the Town of Clarksville voted to name the inter-city road Veteran's Parkway. Mr. Minta
said he would like to see Jeffersonville do the same~ Dave Cole, representing the
American Legion and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars said it would be a good gesture to
name the inter-city road Veteran's Parkway in honor of all of our veterans. Mayor
Galligan commended Clarksville on their Veteran's memorial service over the weekend.
Engineer Miller maded the motion to approve naming the inter-city road down to
Holman's Lane Veteran's Parkway, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried
unanimously.
PARADE PERMIT
Saundra Johnson appeared before the Board to request permission to hold a parade for
Martin Luther King day at noon starting at the City County Building and ending at the
First Presbyterian Church on Walnut Street. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve
the parade permit, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously.
316 MEIGS AVENUE
Engineer Miller said Tim Flynn has requested a resident only parking sign at 316 Meigs
Avenue. Mayor Galligan said he would have Police ChiefPavey look into it and report
back.
SPRING AND RIVERSIDE
Mayor Galligan said he has received complaints from residents of Meaghan Pointe
Condos in regard to Third Base Tavern's patrons parking in their parking places and
blocking their drives. Police Chief Pavey will look into this problem and report back to
the board.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety,
City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 10:15 A.M., seconded by
