HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-23-2000MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA OCTOBER 23, 2000 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:40 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller and Councilperson Dennis Frantz. Also present were: Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater Treatment Director Jim Traylor, Wastewater Treatment Asst. Director Wilkey, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Safety Director Dan Rodden, Parks Director Rick Elliott, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Personnel Director Ellis, Police Chief Pavey, City Attorney Anne Marie Galligan, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made a motion to approve the minutes of 10-9-00 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. NOLE DRIVE Street Commissioner Grant checked the speed limit for Nole Drive and said it is 25 m.p.h. Rhonda Visser who resides at 1612 Nole Drive told the Board that there is no speed limit sign in her area of Nole Drive and a "no outlet" sign is needed also. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the speed limit sign and the no outlet sign, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. CARDINAL LANE AND BLUE TEAL Steve Murdock who resides on Cardinal Lane told the Board that people are speeding in his neighborhood. He said there are small children playing and fears for their safety. He requested a three way stop sign at the intersection of Cardinal Ln. and Blue Teal Ln. Police Chief Pavey said he would put an officer at that location to monitor the amount of speeding to evaluate the situation. JEFFERSONVILLE STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES Police ChiefPavey presented for Board approval the updated Jeffersonville Standard Operating Procedures. He said 1985 was the last time it was updated. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the updated Standard Operating Procedures effective October 23, 2000, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. PROMOTIONS Police Chief Pavey requested from the Board the authority to grant the following promotions effective November, l, 2000. Captain/ames Craig to Major Lieutenant Bruce Wilkerson to Captain Sergeant Brian Cleveland to Lieutenant Corporal Rusty Settles to Sergeant Patrolman Robert Oliver to Corporal Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the promotions effective November l, 2000, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. HOPKINS LANE PROPERTY Attorney Galligan told the Board that all the appropriate steps have been taken in regard to the sale of the property on Hopkins Lane. She said Kim Carroll has offered to purchase the property for $1,000.00. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the sale of the property to Kim Carroll for $1,000.00, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board the motion was made by Commissioner Grant to adjourn at 10:30 am seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carded unanimously.
