HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-30-2000MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MAY 30, 2000 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Building Commissioner Lany Decker, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Vehicle Maintenance Fore Mike Ewton, Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Councilperson Ellis, Street Commissioner Grant, Redevelopment Assistant Director Duggins, Police ChiefPavey, Animal Control Officer Henderson, City Attorney Galligan, Fire Chief Mike Smith, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carded unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of May 15, 2000 and May 22, 2000 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carded unanimously. BRANHAM TABERNACLE PARKING Police ChiefPavey said he checked the location and recommends leaving as is since there have been no complaints. PNC BANK Laura Heinzen with PNC Bank presented the Board with information on employee banking. SPEED LIMIT SIGNS-14TM STREET Councilperson Denny Frantz told the Board that 35 m.p.h, signs need to be put up on 14th Street between Spring Street and 1-65. The Mayor said they would be installed. PERSONNEL MATTERS ChiefPavey requested that the Board promote Chris Ueding to the rank of Corporal and Jason Broady to the rank of Corporal. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the promotions, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. ChiefPavey requested that the Board approve hiring Shawn Patrick Kennedy and Kevin Anderson for the patrolman position. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the hirings, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. HANDICAPPED PARKING Mayor Galligan asked ChiefPavey to check out the parking situation at 318 Meigs Avenue for Julia Haub. STOP SIGN Councilperson Frantz asked if the stop sign at Pearl and Market Street could be moved to Market Street and Mulberry Street. Mayor Galligan said it could be. Safety Director Rodden is to let the Housing Authority know of the change to take place in two weeks. POLK STREET Nellie Knowland asked the Board to check Polk Street by the underpass. She said the street light is out. Mayor Galligan said it would be checked. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at I0:00 A.M., seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously.
