HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-15-2000MINUTES'OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MAY 15, 2000 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Councilperson Frentz. Also present were: Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Vehicle~Maiv.*.enance Fore Mike Ewton, Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jena Ecker, Councilperson Ellis, Wastewater Treatment Assistant Director Wilkey, Street Commissioner Grant, Redevelopment Assistant Director Duggins, Manager Goldman,, Fire Chief Mike Smith, and Clerk Lynne Mayfleld. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frentz and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of May 1, 2000 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. Redevelopment Asst. Director Duggins presented a claim for approval from A and F Engineering on the Intercity Road Traffic Signal Design Progression Analysis in the amount of $1,998.00. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claim for $1,998.00, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. 520 CRESTVIEW COURT City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve a handicapped parking sign at 520 Crestview Court, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. JEFF FEST Henry Faust passed out the 2000 JeffFest schedule. The festival is scheduled for June 10, 2000 from 11:00-8:00 p.m. The art show will be June 11, 2000 from noon till 5:00 p.m. The Parks Dept. will put out extra trashcens and empty them throughout the day. Engineer Miller made the motion to close Court Ave. at noon on June 9th, 2000 at 8:00 a.m. and close Wall Street end Federal Avenue at 8:00 a.m. on June 10, 2000, seconded by Councilperson Frantz end carried unanimously. VENDOR PERMIT James Gales asked the Board's approval for a vendor permit to sell hats, t-shirts, etc. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve a three month permit for $50.00, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. VENDOR PERMIT Danny Chapman asked approval of a vendor permit to sell ice cream for three months. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the vendor permit with a $50.00 fee, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. CRUSADE FOR CHILDREN Fire Chief Smith presented a list of comers that the JeffFire Dept. will be using for collections for the upcoming Crusade for Children. (attached) HIRING Fire Chief Smith asked the Board to approve hiring Pvt. Jason Sharp. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve hiring Pvt. Jason Sharp, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. PROMOTIONS Fire Chief Smith asked the Board to approve promoting Sergeant Rob Jackson to the rank of lieutenant and Private Gray Kinnalrd to the rank of Sergeant. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the promotions, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. HISTORIC LANDMARKS Planning and Zoning Director Ecker told the Board that Historic Landmarks contacted her asking if the street along the front of their building on Chestnut Street could be milled and repaved. They said water is standing under their porch causing it to rot. Mayor Galligan said it would be taken care of. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public WOrks and Safety, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 10:45 A.M., seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously.
