JEFFERSONVILLE. INDIANA MONDAY. MAY 8, 2000
Mayor Gailigan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members
present were: City Engineer Bob Miller. m3d Councilperson Franz.
Also present were: Building Cmm~q~ssioncr LarD' Decker, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Wastewater
Treatment Director Traylor. Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton. Safety Director
Rodden. Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker. Councilperson Ellis. Wastewatcr Treatment
Asst. Director Wilkey, Street Commissioner Grant. Redevelopment Asst. Director Duggins,
Manager Goldman Clerk Treasurer Wilder. Fire Chief Mike Smith. and Clerk Lynne Mayfietd.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by
Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimmusly.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Coun~llpcrson
Frantz and can'ied unanimously.
Engineer Miller made the mot]on to approve the minutes of 4-24-2000 and 4-26-00 as presented,
seconded by Counci'person ~ ranrz and cmried unanimously.
NO PARKING SIGNS
Steve Geswe~n of Brararam Tabernacle appeared before the Board in regard to a parking problem
on 8th Street by the church. Mr. Geswein requested a no parking sign. Mayor Galligan a~k~,d
Police Chief Pavey to check into the matter and report back to tl:fis Board.
RESIDENT PARKING
~,treet Commissioner Grant said a "resident only" parking sign has been requested at 520
Crestview Court. Engineer Miller made the motion to table this matter until it is checked into
further, seconded by Counc,Jlperson Frantz and carried unanimously.
CITATION
Building Commissioner Decker told the Board that a citation was sent to David and Linda
Francke for open storage, ur~cm grass~ and an unproperly secured building at 405 and 407 E. 10th
Street. Building Commissioner Decker said the open storage has since been cleaned up. Engincer
Miller made the motion to approve giving them 10 days to secure the building and if they don't
the city will do the work and bill them ibr the labor and material cost plus a $100.00 fine,
seconded by Counci'~person FmntT., and carded unanimously.
NEIGHBORHOOD CLEANUP
Mayor Galligan said May 13. 2000 has been set for Neighborhood Cleanup day in the RoseHi]l
area. Joann Blake has requested a dumpster at the end of W. Maple Street. Street Commissioner
Grant said he would get the dmnpster there for her.
LIFESPAN RESOURCES
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the agreement with LifeSpan Resources, fom~erly
Council For the Aging, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried tatanimously.
RAiL LOOP
Rodney Gross of ttte Clark Marith~e Centre spo,~ce to the Board in regard to a raid line along
Utica Pike. He said in order to complete the railway he needs permission from the City of
Jeft~ersonville to make the crossing tbr the rail loop. Clark Maritime will cover all expenses
regarding this. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the crossing ar Utica Pike, seco~_ded
by Couacilperson Frantz and carded unanimously.
_QUOTES
Street Commissioner Grant said he received 3 fence quotes. The fence will be installed at the
Street Dept. behind Stemler's building. Quotes were received from Falls City Fence-S2,570.00,
Cardinal Fence-S3.604.00, and HaUlage Fence-S3.700.00. Engineer Miller made the motion to
approve Falls City Fence in the m~ount of $2,570.00, seconded by Coancilperson Frantz and
carried unanimously.
Street Commissioner Grant also received quotes for n-ee removal at 310 Jackson St.. 1035 Maple
St., and and 901 Penn St. The quotes are: Curry Tree Service-g1.100.00 and Martin Tree
Service-S] .475.00. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve Curry Tree Service in the
amount of $1.100.00. seconded by Com~cilperson Frantz and carried ananimously.
ELKE POINTE
Engineer Miller said he received a complaint on the detention basin at Elke Pointe not bcing
mowed. Mayor Galligan asked Parks Superintendent Elliott to take care of it.
PAVING
Counci/person Ellis told the Board that Cameron Drive needs to be paved. Mayor Galligan said it
would be taken care of.
INTER-CITY ROAD CLAIM
Redevelopment Asst. Director Dugg]ns asked tbe Board to approve payment to Butler, Fainnan.
ami Seufert for $5_ 100.00 with Jeffersonville's portion being $2.550.00 for the Intercity Road
Flyover project. Engineer Miller made the motion ro approve the claim, seconded by
Co;mcilpcrson Frantz and carded unanimously.

Engineer Miller made thc motion to adjourn al 10:45 a.m.. seconded by Couacilperson Framz
and carried unanimousl5.
