HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-10-2000MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY, APRIL 10, 2000 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Councilperson Franz. Also present were: Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Councilperson Ellis, Animal Control Officer Henderson, Wastewater Treatment Asst. Director Wilke, Street Commissioner Grant, Redevelopment Asst. Director Duggins, City Attorney Galligan, Fire Chief Mike Smith, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Franz and carded unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Councilperson Franz and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 3-27-2000 and 4-3-2000 as presented, seconded by Councitperson Franz and carried unanimously. MASSAGES BY THE RIVER Dixie Pifer introduced herself to the Board. She does therapeutic massages and would like :) come to Jeffersonville and offer her service. She said she is licensed and charges $45.00 per hour. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve Dixie Pifer's request to offer massage therapy in Jeffersonville, seconded by Councilperson Franz and carded unanimously. THUNDER VENDOR Lisa Johnson of 7217 Deer Ridge Road in Prospect, Ky. came before the Board to get permission to sell children's items at Thunder Over Louisvlle. She requested 3 permits. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the permits for Thunder, seconded by Councilperson Frm~z carded unanimously. HANDICAP PARKING CliffKoerner of 1012 E. 7th Street asked the Board to approve a handicap parking sign for him. Councilperson Franz made the motion to approve the handicap sign, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. RESIDENT PARKING Chris Wehner and Lynn O'Brien of 502 W. Riverside Drive requested 2 handicap parking sigi:s. They both have handicap license plates. Councilperson Franz made the motion to approve the 2 handicap parking signs, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. OVERLOOK FOR EASTER SERVICES Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott said that First Presbyterian Church would tike permission to hold a Sunrise Service from 6:45 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at the Overlook on Easter Sunday. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the Sunrise Service at the Overlook, seconded by Councilperson Franz and carded unanimously. CINERGY CONTRACT Asst. Redevelopment Director Duggins asked the Board to approve the agreement between Cinergy and the City of Jeffersonville for the Spring Street lighting. The estimated cost is $71,478.18. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the agreement between Cinergy and the City of Jeffersonville, seconded by Councilperson Franz and carried unanimously. CIVIL AIR PATROL LICENSE AGREEMENT City Attomey Galligan said the Civil Air Patrol wants to renew their license agreement with the City. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the license agreement between the City of' Jeffersonville and the Civil Air Patrol, seconded by Councilperson Franz and carried unanimously. CONDEMNATION City Attorney Galligan told the Board that the 2nd Phase is complete on the condemnation of the Kleinert property. The condemnation damages have been appraised by Baird Realty in t~e amount of $16,225.00. An April 24th, 2000 hearing is scheduled. Engineer Miller made t~e motion to approve the condemnation damages of the Kleinert property, seconded by Councilperson Franz and carded unanimously.(see Resolution 2000-5, attached) CLAIMS Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claims to be paid from the SRF fund, seconded by Councilperson Franz and carded unanimously, There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Manager made the motion to adjourn at 10:30 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and unanimously.
