JEFFERSONVILLE. INDIANA MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7. 2000
Bob Goldman sat in for Mayor Galligan and called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., and on call
of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller. and Building Commissioner
Decker sat in for Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman.
Also present were: Fire Chief Mike Smith, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Personnel Director
Ellis,Clerk Treasurer Peggy Wilder, Sewage Manager Gelsena Smith. Animal Control Officer
Henderson, Safety Director Rodden, Street Commissioner Grant. Wastewater Treatment Assistant
Director Traylor, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Mike
Ewton. and Clerk Lyrme Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion m approve the pa~oll as presented, seconded by Building
Commissioner Decker and carded unanimously.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 1-24-00 and 1-31-00 seconded by
Building Commissioner Decker and carried unanimously.
Engmeer Miller made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Building
Commissioner Decker and carried unanimously.
THOMPSON LANE SEWERS
Engineer Miller said he has spoken with Excel Excavating and they have lowered their bid by
$18,000.00 which makes the total bid for the project $118,345.00. Excel Excavating wasthe only
bidder on this project. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the new bid of $118,345.00,
seconded by Building Commissioner Decker and carded unanimously.
CHAS. PIKE AND PLEASANT RUN SEWERS
Jorge Lanz of Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz opened bids on the Chas. Pike and Pleasant Run sewers.
They are as follows:

Engineer Miller made the motion to take bids under advisement for one week, seconded by
Building Commissioner and carried unanimously.
ENGINEERING CONTRACTS
Wastewarer Treatment Plant Director Traylor said the city currently has two engineering
contracts, one with PEH Engineering and one with Omni Engineering. The contract with PEH
has a dollar value of $10,000.00. For new activities for PEH such as influent design and
construction, clarifier slab construction and drain valve and manhole design and construction
PEH is asking for an additional $60.000.00. Both Jorge Lanz and Mayor Galligan approve of
this.Traylor recommends that the Board approve the $60,000.00 addition. The second is for
Omni Engineering. They currently have an amended contract amount of $110,000.00. Due to
changes on the Pleasant Run activities with changes and location of manholes and associated
sewer lines along Pleasant Run, they are asking for an additional $25,000.00. Jorge Lanz and
Mayor Ga]ligan approve of this addition. That would bring Omni's total contract to $135,000.00.
Travlor recommends that the Board approve this addition. Engineer Miller made the motion to
approve the addition to PEH Engineers and Omni Engineering's contract, seconded by Building
Commissioner Decker and carded unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, City
Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn a~ 9:50 a.m., seconded by Building Commissioner
Decker and carded unanimously. /,~
