HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-10-2001 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA SEPTEMBER 10, 2001 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: Councilperson Frantz and City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Personnel Director Ellis, Wastewater Treatment Director Dixon, Animal Control Officer Wright, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Police Chief Pavey, Building Commissioner Gavin, Street Commissioner Grant, Wastewater Collection Supervisor Wright, and Deputy Clerk Lynne Mayfield. RACE FOR THE CURE 5 K RUN/WALK t— Tandy Patrick appeared before the Board to request approval of street closings by the Second Street Bridge area for the Race for the Cure.5K Walk/Run on Saturday,October 13, 2001 from ' 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the street closings, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. 403 MYRTLE STREET James Smith appeared before the Board in regard to overgrown brush. He said it has been cut in the past by the City but needs to be done again. Mayor Galligan said it would be done. Mr. Smith also complained about neighborhood residents leaving trash cans out in their yards all week. Mayor Galligan said the proper people will be warned and ticketed if necessary. HANDICAPPED PARKING Pat Ward appeared for Ms. Campbell who resides at 911 E. Chestnut Street requesting a handicapped parking sign. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the handicapped parking permit contingent upon Police Chief Pavey's recommendation, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. MILLENIUM AUTOMOTIVE Marvin Stephenson who owns Millenium Automotive at 1118-1128 Watt Street told the Board that three cars that he is working on have been stickered by the police. Mayor Galligan said the cars cannot set out if unlicensed and unoperable. Mr. Stephenson said he has had several burglaries and thefts. Mayor Galligan said he would look into this. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson Frantz to adjo at 10:00 .m., se onded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
