HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-16-2001 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JULY 16, 2001 In Mayor Galligan's absence, City Engineer Miller called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: Councilperson Frantz and Personnel Director Ellis sitting in for Engineer Miller. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Animal Shelter Director Keller, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Police Chief Pavey, Building Commissioner Gavin, Street Commissioner Grant, Wastewater Collection Supervisor Wright, and Deputy Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the minutes of 7-2-01 and 7-9-01 as presented, seconded by Personnel Director Ellis and carried unanimously. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Personnel Director Ellis and carried unanimously. 2900 MIDDLE ROAD Planning and Zoning Director Ecker told the Board she has received five calls from residents at the Middle Road Schoolhouse condos about resident Robert Bennett using his cars for personal storage. Mr. Bennett appeared before the board and said both cars are licensed and driven all the time. He said his line of business is advertising and sometimes has his advertising materials in his car. Mr. Bennett presented pictures of his cars sitting in the parking lot. Alene Pfaffinger, another resident and Middle Road Schoolhouse Board member said that the Board did not make the call to complain. After some discussion, Engineer Miller recommended that a follow up of the situation be done in 30 days. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to do a follow up check in 30 days, seconded by Personnel Director Ellis and carried unanimously. i ', • 206 MARTIN CIRCLE Planning and Zoning Director Ecker said she cited Eddie and Christine Greene in March or April about continued complaints about Mr. Greene repairing and storing cars at his mother's residence at 206 Martin Circle. Mr. Greene said he likes working on cars but is not running a business there. He said the neighbor who is complaining just has a personal problem with him obviously. Mr. Greene said two of the vehicles there are tow trucks. Police Chief Pavey said it is not illegal to have tow trucks parked on the street. The police • have been called to the address because of a noise complaint but the police after observing for 30 minutes or so didn't hear any noise coming from there. After discussion, • Councilperson Frantz made the motion to table this until next week, seconded by Personnel Director Ellis and carried unanimously. 123 E. MAPLE STREET Fire Chief Smith inquired about the status of the building at 123 E. Maple Street. Planning and Zoning Ecker said the building is to be torn down. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson Frantz to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Personnel Director Ellis and carried unanimously.
