HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-11-2001 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JUNE 11, 2001 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 am: and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Animal Shelter Director Keller, Parks Director Rick Elliott, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Personnel Director Ellis, Administrator Rich Davis, Building Commissioner Gavin, Wastewater Collection Supervisor Wright, and Deputy Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. Mayor Galligan confirmed that there is no one on the payroll that shouldn't be. •--- INSURANCE Edward Culpepper Cooper appeared before the Board in regard to run out claims due to the change in insurance companies. He said Humana has agreed to pay the run out claims that were incurred prior to April 1, 2001. The administrative cost for this is $13,722.62. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payment to Humana in the amount of$13,722.62 for administrative fees to pay the run out claims, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. RE-INSURANCE Edward Culpepper Cooper said that the City has a re-insurance contract with the Union Labor Life Insurance Company and Mr. Cooper recommended that the Board defer signing the contract until City Attorney Galligan reviews it. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve deferring the signing of the contract until the City Attorney reviews it, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. DO NOT LITTER SIGNS Mayor Galligan said a request was made to put"Do Not Litter" signs on the railroad track right of ways. Mayor Galligan said the signs should be put on most right of ways all around the community. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve putting up "No Littering" signs in designated areas, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. STOP SIGNS Mayor Galligan said a request was made for a stop sign at Ruck and Ridgeway. Safety Director Rodden will check out. SEWER CLEANING TRUCK Engineer Miller made the motion to reject the bids that were received and opened on 6-4-01 on the sewer cleaning truck. Engineer Miller said the vacuum and truck will be bid separately in order to get a truck that will last longer, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. TRAIN Councilperson Frantz said he had a complaint about the train that runs at 11:00 for 12:00 at night across 8th Street by Morris Avenue. He said the horn is disturbing at that time of night.
