HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-04-2001 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JUNE 4, 2001 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Animal Shelter Director Keller, Parks Director Rick Elliott, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Personnel Director Ellis, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Police Chief Pavey, Building Commissioner Gavin, Street Commissioner Grant, Wastewater Collection Supervisor Wright, Councilperson Merkley, and Deputy Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 5-29-01 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. GRAHAM STREET BID Bids were opened by Jorge Lanz of Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz on the Graham Street Combined Sewer Separation/Rehabilitation Project. Bids were received from Reynolds Inc.-$1,121,896.00 and Sedam Construction- $933,067.00. Engineer Miller made the motion to take the bids under advisement, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. TRUCK BID Mayor Galligan opened bids on a 6x4-275 HP Automatic Truck. Bids were received from Best Equipment- $201,368.00 with options and Deeds Equipment- $201,989.00 with options. Engineer Miller made the motion to take the bids under advisement, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. CITATION Planning and Zoning Director Ecker told the Board that a citation was sent to Kentucky Title of 1107 Reeds Lane. The current tenant of the property is Borraga's. She said they are parking cars on the grass and junk is lying around. She said paving needs to be done and a fence is needed. After discussion, Engineer Miller made the motion to notify Kentucky Title of the problem and have them come in next CTMonday to discuss it. If they do not appear before the Board they will be fined $100.00 per day, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. STROBEL MANUFACTURING Attorney Steve Voelker appeared before the Board for Strobel Manufacturing of 3131 Industrial Parkway. Mr. Voelker was responding to the citation that Strobel Manufacturing received in regard to the paving that needs to be done there. Attorney Voelker said that Strobel doesn't have the funds at the present time to do the complete job but can have the front portion done by the spring of 2002. Mayor Galligan said they need to make progress as soon as possible and asked that a timetable plan be put together. Attorney Voelker said this would be done. CITATION Building Commissioner Gavin cited Angelina Sweet of 418 Walnut Street for open storage and overgrown grass. Ms. Sweet did not appear before the Board. After some discussion Engineer Miller made the motion to give Angelina Sweet 10 days to respond and if not will then be fined $50.00 per day, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. r-- There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson Frantz to ad. urn at 10:20 a.m., s conded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
