MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MAY 29, 2001
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present
Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Frantz.
Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker,
Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Animal Shelter Director Keller, Parks Secretary Jackie
Langdon, Street Commissioner Grant, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Police
Chief Pavey, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield.
ROAD ACCEPTANCE
Engineer Miller made the motion to accept Peach Blossom Drive and Elberta Drive from the
Orchard Hill Subdivision plat at the corner of Highway 62 and Holman's Lane, seconded by
Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. (See attached plat.)
CITATION
Planning and Zoning Director Ecker said she has received complaints from property owners on
Cooper's Lane about numerous signs in the right of way and open storage. The lot in question
belongs to Mr. James Harbeson who appeared before the Board. He said he has permission to
run his business from that property. Director Ecker said he needs a permit for each and every
sign. After some discussion Engineer Miller made the motion to have Mr. Harbeson come in
and work something out on his signs, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried
unanimously.
COKE AND SONS
Planning and Zoning Director Ecker said that Coke and Sons Home Improvement signs are in numerous
locations around town and not displayed in the proper places. Director Ecker said Mr. Coke has been
uncooperative in removing the signs. After discussion, Engineer Miller made the motion to give Mr. Coke
48 hours to remove the remaining signs or he will be fined $100.00 per sign, seconded by Councilperson
Frantz and carried unanimously.

r— ANIMAL SHELTER SIGN
Planning and Zoning Director Ecker said there is a sign at the corner of 10th Street and Dutch Lane on a
telephone pole that needs to be removed and put on a proper road sign. She said Hamburg Pike and
Willinger Road needs to be checked also for proper signage.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson
Frantz to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
