HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-21-2001 r-- ‘MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY 9F THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MAY 21, 2001 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Personnel Director Ellis, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Police Chief Pavey, City Attorney Galligan, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. SACRED HEART 5K'RUN/WALK Chris Creagh asked the Board to approve the Run/Walk scheduled for June 23, 2001 to begin at r . 8:30 a.m. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the Run/Walk, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. LIMITED PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY City Attorney Galligan said she has received a proposal from Beam, Longest, and Neff L.L.C. on the IWR property in the amount of$9,085.00 to do a Limited Phase II Environmental Study. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the proposal, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. POLYGRAPH SERVICES City Attorney Galligan said an agreement is needed between the City and Gary Hall to perform polygraph services. The contract amount is $9,500.00 per year for 50 pre-paid exams. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the contract between the City of Jeff and Gary Hall in the amount of$S.,500.00, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. SENIOR GAMES Julie Wilson appeared before the Board in regard to the Senior Games to be held on May 31, 2001 starting at Warder Park and ending at St. Augustine's. It begins at 10:30 a.m. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the Senior Games, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. BIDS Bids were opened for the equipment on the Telemetry Project for the Sewer Utility Treatment Plant and all the Lift Stations. They are as follows: Delta Electric- $449,000.00 Pfeiffer Engineering- $;18,467.00 Control Touch Systems, Inc.- $534,686.00 Engineer Miller made the motion to take the bids under advisement for one week, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. BI-CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION City Attorney Galligan said that she had a request from the County committee for the celebration of — county bi-centennial to receive a concessioner's permit with the fee waived for all the concessioner's for the event&to be held on July 7, 2001. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve a one day concessionerfpermit with the fee waived, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. COLGATE-PALMOLIVE RUN/WALK Police Chief Pavey said he received a request from Colgate-Palmolive to have a Run/Walk on June 2, 2001. The proceeds will go to the Crusade for Children. 312 E. MARKET STREET Building Commissioner Gavin said the status of 312 E. Market Street has not changed. Mayor Galligan said the owner needs to be notified that a fine of$100.00 per day will be imposed after the deadline of June 8, 2001. — INDIANA HOTEL r Building Commissioner Gavin told the Board that the back portion of the Indiana Hotel has deteriorated more and needs to be taken down. Attorney Galligan said this is an emergency situation and the owner and his attorney should be sent notice. Engineer Miller said the back portion of the building can be taken down in the next few days. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve taking the back end of the building down immediately for emergency reasons, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. The City will close the building up afterwards. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson Frantz to adjourn at 1030 a.m., seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
