HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-30-2001 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA APRIL 30, 2001 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Building Commissioner Bill Gavin , Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Ewton, Parks Director Rick Elliott, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Personnel Director Ellis, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Police Chief Pavey, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Assistant Wastewater Treatment Director Wilkey, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. r--. CLARK CO. 200 YEAR CELEBRATION Shirley Nolot appeared before the Board in regard to the Clark County 200 Year Celebration to be held on July 7, 2001. She requested that Watt Street to Meig's on Court Avenue be closed from Friday at 6:00 p.m. till Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the street closing, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. RESIDENT PARKING Police Chief Pavey will check out the location at 1003 E. Market Street and report back to the Board. RESIDENT PARKING Mary Lee Whelan spoke for Thelma Boyce who resides at 408 Francis Court and is handicapped. Mayor Galligan said she will get a handicapped parking sign. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve a handicapped parking sign, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. _ _ _ _ ____ t - HANDICAPPED PARKING Anita Williams of 507 Norseman Drive (Bridgepointe Apts.) asked for a handicapped parking sign. Mayor Galligan said she would need to purchase her own sign and have the apartment management install it because the City has no jurisdiction there. HANDICAPPED PARKING Engineer Miller made the motion to approve three handicapped parking signs for the Church of Christ at 9th Street and Meigs Avenue, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. JEFF FEST 5K KIDS RUN Youth Council Coordinator Beverly Knight asked the Board to approve street closings for the Jeff Fest 5K Kid's Run on June 9, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the closings tentatively on Chief Pavey's recommendation, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. P 437 MECHANIC STREET Police Chief Pavey recommended two resident only parking signs at 437 Mechanic Street. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the resident only parking signs, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. 212 WALNUT STREET Police Chief Pavey recommended a resident parking sign at 212 Walnut Street. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the resident only parking sign, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. DRAIN BUSTERS Engineer Miller said that the business at Walnut and 8th Street called DrainBuster's is parking their vans on 8th Street making visibly difficult to pull onto 8th Street. Engineer Miller said he would talk to the business. Engineer Miller made the motion to put "no parking" signs at the corner of Walnut Street and 8th Street, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. r There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson Frantz to adjourn at 9:50 a.m., seconded by Parks Superintendent Elliott and carried unanimously.
