HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-26-2001 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MARCH 26, 2001 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: Parks Superintendent Elliott sitting in for City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Animal Shelter Director Keller, Parks Director Rick Elliott, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Personnel Director Ellis, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Police Chief Pavey, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, and Clerk Treasurer Wilder. BIDS .vo bituminous bids were received. One was from Sellersburg Stone and the other from Gohmann 'sphalt. After Mayor Galligan read the bids Parks Superintendent Elliott made the motion to take them under advisement and award next week, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. BLOCK PARTY-HAVEN HOUSE Angela Wolfe representing the Haven House at Colonial Park requested a street closure on April 28, 2001 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. from 8th Street to Long Street. Mayor Galligan said the street can be closed from 11 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the street closure, seconded by Parks Superintendent Elliott and carried unanimously. JEFF FEST Henry Faurest and Barbara Wilson who are on the Jeff Fest committee told the Board that Jeff Fest is scheduled for June 8, 9, and 10th. Mayor Galligan said the park should be ready in time for the golf to be set up. If the park isn't ready the alternate site is Preservation Station. There will also be horseshoes and carriage rides. The Youth Commission's 3 mile run walk and kid's run will take place also. The walkers and runners will finish at the opening of Jeff Fest. On Friday evening there will be a miniature golf tournament and a fund raiser in the nk building. Parks Superintendent Elliott made the motion to close Court Avenue between Wall and Spring :eet at 6:00 p.m. on June 8`h , to reopen on June 9`h, 2001, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. RT SHOW • The Jeff Fest art show will be on Saturday and Sunday in the Bank One Building. 206 MARTIN CIRCLE Councilperson Wilson representing Councilperson Ron Ellis said there is a garage business operating out of a home at 206 Martin Circle. Planning and Zoning Director Ecker said her code enforcement officer is already on it. PROMOTION Fire Chief Smith recommended to the Board that Pam Bottorff be promoted to Sergeant. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the promotion, seconded by Parks Superintendent Elliott and carried unanimously. STREET LIGHT OUT Nellie Knowland said there is a street light out at Fairview Avenue and Hamburg Pike. r-- ,ROMAS JEFFERSON SPRING FESTIVAL Clerk Treasurer Wilder requested police and fire vehicles at the Thomas Jefferson Spring festival on April 7, 2001. Mayor Galligan said there would be no problem with this. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson Frantz to adjourn at 10:15 a.m., seconded by Parks Superintendent Elliott and carried unanimously.
