HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-19-2001 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF rt3E CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MARCH 19, 2001 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: Parks Superintendent Elliott sitting in for City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Animal Shelter Director Keller, Parks Director Rick Elliott, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Personnel Director Ellis, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Police Chief Pavey, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the minutes of 3-19-01, seconded by Parks Superintendent Elliott and carried unanimously. MCA ROAD RACE Bob McEwen of the YMCA said the National YMCA is planning the world's largest road race for June 2, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. starting at the YMCA. Mayor Galligan asked Mr. McEwen to get him a route mapped out. The race should last approximately 45 minutes. Bob McEwen asked that some trees on the YMCA property along Hamburg Pike be cut down. They are making visibility difficult and dangerous pulling out of the YMCA lot. Mayor Galligan said the trees would be cut down. PERSONNEL MATTER Fire Chief Smith asked the Board to approve the demotion of James John's from Sergeant to Firefighter as agreed to by James John's. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to demote James John's contingent upon receiving a signed statement from James Johns agreeing to the demotion, seconded by Parks Superintendent Elliott and carried unanimously. EJ • POLICE CONTRACT WITH HOUSING AUTHORITY City Attorney Galligan said there are 2 contracts between our Police Department and the Housing Authority. One is for investigative services and the other is for supplemental police services. She is requesting Board approval for 2 changes to these contracts. One would be to make the contracts such that they do not have to be renewed annually or even semi-annually. They will just continue on until one party terminates them on 30 days notice. The other change is increasing the hourly rate from $30.00 to $32.00 per hour. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the revised contracts with the Housing Authority, seconded by Parks Superintendent Elliott and carried unanimously. 809 FULTON STREET Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Ewton told the Board that at 809 Fulton Street there are two resident only parking signs that haven't been renewed and need to be removed. Mayor Galligan said the signs will be flmoved. 1027 WATT STREET 1027 Watt Street was brought up in discussion and a letter notifying Mary Tudor Mills that she must vacate the house and that there is a place for her at Clark Arms has been sent by City Attorney Galligan. l , Hhere being no further business to come before the Board the motion was made by ouncilperson Frantz to adjourn at 10:00 a.m. seconded by Parks Superintendent Elliott 4d carried unanimously.
