HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-20-2001 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA FEBRUARY 20, 2001 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Ewton, sitting in for Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Safety Director Rodden, Planning and Zoning Director Jana Ecker, Building Commissioner Larry Decker, Wastewater Treatment Director Traylor, Animal Shelter Director Keller, Parks Director Rick Elliott, Street Commissioner Grant, Redevelopment Director Duggins, Personnel Director Ellis, Clerk Treasurer Peggy Wilder, Administrator Rich Davis, Asst. Wastewater Treatment Dir. Wilkey, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Ewton and carried unanimously. I—City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 1-22-01 and 1-29-01, seconded by Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Ewton and carried unanimously. . RESIDENT PARKING Mayor Galligan asked the Police Dept. to check 129 E. Chestnut Street for resident parking. They will report back next week. CLERK TREASURER WILDER Clerk Treasurer Wilder distributed Resolution 2001-1 to the Department Heads in regard to the purchase of Laser Fiche Document Imaging for all city records. The total cost will be approximately $20,000.00 with the lease amount being $15,000.00 through Indiana Bond Bank. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve Resolution 2001-1, seconded by Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor and carried unanimously. f . ACCIDENT ON CHAS. PIKE N.A. PIKE t , Clerk Treasurer Wilder told the Board that more signage is needed on Chas. N.A. Pike. She said there was a serious accident on that road a couple of weeks ago due to the hidden entrance. Mayor Galligan said he would look at the options and determine a solution next week. 228 SPRING STREET _Building Commissioner Decker said that on 12-21-00 the building at 228 Spring was damaged by fire. On 1-24-01 Building Commissioner Decker sent an unsafe building letter to Mr. Muncy, the owner. Building Commissioner Decker recommended that Mr. Muncy do one of two options. Option 1 is to remove the building and Option 2 is to present a plan of repair or remodel the building in a timely fashion. Mr. Mark McGrath of Indiana Insurance who represents Mr. Muncy said that the building is structurally sound and can be repaired. He said it should take approximately 60 to 90 days to resolve the coverage issues and could submit to the state a design release in 120 days. After some discussion, Engineer Miller made the motion to give Mr. Muncy four months from this date to pick one of the two options given, seconded by Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Ewton and carried unanimously. 113 W. MAPLE STREET tvlayor Galligan said the City owns property at 113 W. Maple Street that needs to be advertised for sale. (Engineer Miller made the motion to approve City Attorney Galligan taking the necessary steps to sell the - property, seconded by Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Ewton and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to adjourn at 10:10 a.m. seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. 7 MAYOR ATTEST: CLERK L. SURER 3 228 Spring Street Tubby's Fire Department called to 228 Spring Street, fire damage 12-31-00 which included structural damage. 4-01 Sent letter of unsafe building, meets all criteria of unsafe 01-2 building (I. C. 36-7-9). RECOMMENDATION Option 1 To remove building to IAC 675 12 plan of repair or remodel according treet side must Option 2 Present a se) also any work on Spring air or 6 (Designed b th be approved by the Historic Board. Time table Board of Public removal and associated fines to be set by Works and Safety.
