HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-OR-37ORDINANCE 2006-OR-40 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 98-OR-40 ESTABLLSmNG AN INDEPENDENT MUNICIPAL PURCHASING AGENCY WlW~REAS, IC 5-22 (the "Act") applies to every expenditure of public funds by a governmental body, and WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville (the "City") is a governmental body under the Act, and WHEREAS, the Act authorizes the Jeffersonville Common Council to establish a purchasing agency for the City, and WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Seffersonville desires to change the purchasing agency for the City of Jeffersonville, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE Cfl¥ OF JEFFERSONVILLE: SEL'I'ION 1: Section 1 of Ordinance 98-Or-40 is hereby amended to read as follows: "The office Clerk-Treasurer of the City of Jeffersonville is established as the purchasing agent for the City of Jeffersonville." This ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville and approval by the Mayor of the City of Jeffersonville. Waiz Jr., Mayor BEFORE THE COMMON COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE STATE OF INDIANA IN THE MATTER OF THE VETO OF O .R._D_ INANCE NO. 2006-OR-.~_ STATEMENT OF REASONS Comes now the Mayor for the City of Jeffersonville, Robert L. Waiz, Jr., having reviewed Ordinance No. 2006-OR-_~, hereby vetoes said ordinance and in support states the following: 1. That Indiana law does not allow the designation of the Clerk-Treasurer as the city's purchasing agency. 2. That purchasing is purely an executive function to ensure there is not a disruption of the day-to-day operations of city government and services. 3.
