OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
NOVEMBER 23, 2005
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were:
Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller.
Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Assistant Parks Director Couts, Asst. Police Chief Lovan,
Administrator Davis, Building Commissioner Segraves, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Human
Resources Director Calabro, Safety Director Trembly, Street Commissioner Ellis, Redevelopment
Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilp~son Sellers
and carried unanimously.
Park and Ride Contract
Attorney Merkiey asked the Board to approve a contract with Beam, Longest and Neffto do
the environmental study for the Park and Ride. The project is being funded at 80% federal
20% local. The motion was made by Engineer Miller to approve the request, seconded by
Councilperson Sellers and passed unanimously.
Walking Event
Bob Miller, representing Volkssport Association, appeared before the Board concerning a
walking event March 11, 2006. They are asking permission to put up ribbons and arrows
down Riverside drive to the overlook. The walkers will use the sidewalks so there will be no
need to close the street. He gave the Board a copy of the route. The motion was made by
Engineer Miller to approve the request, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and passed
unanimously.
Request for 8-Ton Limit Sign
Director Trembly asked for approval to put up two 8-ton weight limit signs to both entrances
to Mellwood Subdivision. There is a lot of construction in the county on Woodland Ct and
they have sometimes been driving through the subdivision. The motion was made by
Engineer Miller to approve the request, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and passed
unanimously.
Chief Miles said that he has been appointed to the International Homeland Security
Committee and they recently had a meeting in Washington D.C. which was very informative.
Director Drury informed the Board that one of the City's vehicles was hit in the parking lot.
The driver was not insured so the Building Commission will have to pay the $1,000.00
deductible. Asst: Lovan will pursue the matter of the uninsured motorist.
Nellie Knowland informed the Board that December 6, 2006 will be her 61st wedding
anniversary.
Mrs. Knowland also said that the Parks Board is going to help with the square dance club in
· April 2006.
Mayor Waiz thanked Nellie for the red hots and peanut brittle.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, the motion was made by Councilperson
Sellers to.
