HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-R-13RESOLUTION NO. 2005-R-13 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLIC'ATION SUBMISSION AND LOCAL MATCH COMMITMENT RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF THE CFF APPLICATION TO THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND ADDRESSING RELATED MATTERS WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana recognizes the need to stimulate growth and to maintain a sound economy within its corporate limits; and WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana recognizes the need to continue providing a place for the provision of programs and services for the senior community in the City; and WHEREAS, the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, authorizes the Indiana Department of Commerce to provide grants to local units of government to meet the housing and community development needs of low- and moderate-income persons; and WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana has conducted or will conduct public hearings prior to the submission of an application to the Indiana Department of Commerce, said public hearings to assess the housing, public facilities and economic needs of its low- and moderate-income residents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, hadiana that: 1. The Mayor is authorized to prepare and submit an application for grant funding to address the construction of a senior community center to replace the Ken Ellis Senior Center that was destroyed by a tornado, and to execute and administer a resultant grant including requisite general administration and project management, contracts and agreements pursuant to regulations of the Indiana Department o:f Commerce and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. 2. The City of Jeffersonville, Indiana hereby commits the requisite local funds in the amount of Three, .' ....... hundred Forty-four Thousand Two-hundred Fifty-two Dollars ($344,252), consisting of One-Hun&'ed Twenty-Nine Thousand Five-Hundred Ten dollars ($131,132.39) in EDIT funds and Two-hundred Thirteen Thousand One-hundred Nineteen Dollars and Sixty-one Cents ($213,119.61) in insurance proceeds from the payout on the destroyed Ken Ellis Senior Center, as matching funds for said program, such commitment to be contingent upon receipt of CFF funding from the Indiana Department of Commerce. / Adopted by the 7'30 p.m. City of Jeffersonville, Indiana this 21st day of March, 2005, at SIGNATURE' Jr., Mayor ATTEST: Peggy Wil C1
