ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NON-REVERTING FUND
FOR THE JEFFERSONVILLE CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR
THE PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, on May 5, 1997, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville
("the Council") adopted Ordinance No. 97-OR-24 Amending Certain Portions Of
Ordinance No. 93-OR-2 Establishing Serdme Charges For False Alarms Reported to
Jefferson~fflle City Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 97-OR-24 provides for fees to be collected for false
alarms responded to by the Jeffersonville City Fire Deparmaent ("the Deparlznent"); and
WHEREAS, service fees to be collected by the Department including, but not
limited to, surplus fees from the sale of used equip, ment; and
WHERAS, any donations received by the Jeffersonville City Fire Department shall
be placed in the Jeffersonville Fire Department Non-reverfng Fund; and
WHEREAS, to er&ance its service to the dt/zens of the City of Jeffersonville, the
Department needs to upgrade and improve its equipment; and
WHEREAS, the service fees collected by the Department would be a non-tax
source of income to fund the purchase of new equipment ~ for the Department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City
of Jeffersonville, Indiana that ir hereby establishes a non-reverting fund for the purpose of
receiving and holding service fees to be Used for the purpose of purchasing equipment for
the Department. This fund shall be entitled the "Jeffersonville Fire Department Non-
Reverting Fund" and monies shall be expended from this fund only upon the filing of a
proper claim in issuance of a warrant for payment by the Clerk-Treasurer after approval by
the Common Council of the City of Jefferson~d~lle. This fund shall be a non-reverting fund
and all monies received as revenues from service fees collected by the Jeffersonv'~[e City Fire
Department (except those service fees required by statute to be deposited into another fund)
shall hereafter not be required to be received into the general fund of the City, but shall be
deposited into this non-reverting fund.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
approval.
