Meeting Memorandum - August 16, 2004- Mayor's Conference Room
5:00 p.m.
Meeting called to order by:
City Council President Phil McCauley
Attendees:
Councilpersoas Sellers, Grooms, McCauley, Wilson, Fetz, Perkins, and Zastawney. Also present was
Mayor Waiz, Clerk and Treasurer Peggy Wilder and Chief Deputy Suzy Bass. Also present were many
city employees.
Agenda Item 1. Recap of Budget Process
President McCauley infonued all those present that he would like to set the record
straight about what the Council is intending to do about the Budget. He informed all
employees that at this point the Council in not considering firing any employees. They
are considering attrition. He stated that Mayor Waiz had informed all Department
Directors not to replace terminated employees until he approves it, therefore, the Council
is under the impression that he feels
Action: None taken
Agenda Item 2. Need to Raise Budget on Particular Items
Discussion was held on different line items that are not currently budgets adequately.
Among them are Gasoline in Vehicle Maintenance, Sanitation, and MVH and the Electric
and other utilities in the Parks Department.
Action: None taken
Agenda Item 3. Health Insurance
Councilperson Zastawny gave the Council a report on the Health Insurance Fund.
Action: None Taken
Agenda Item 4. Salaries vs. Positions
Discussion was held on employee salaries versus positions.
Action: No objections.
The Council decided to meet on September 8, 2004 and September 13, 2004 if needed.
Council President McCauley asked the Clerk Treasurer's Office to refigure salaries and
benefits at 2 ½ % and also at 3%.
There being no other items of discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
