An Ordinmnce Creating 4 way and 3 way Stop Streets and
for the installation of Traffic lights at certain street
intersections~ and providing penalties for the violation
of said Ordinance and repealing ordinences in conflict.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COI~MON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSO~ILLE~ INDIJ~A
SECTION !
That the intersection of streets in the City of Jeffersonvill%
Indiana ati:EastPark Place and Ewing Lsne is hereby desiginated
and declared to be a three way stop intersection; that:~ the
intersection of streets at 8th and Meigs Avenue and at Chestnut
and Meigs Avenue are hereby desiginated and declared to be
4 way stop intersections. Thatatl vehicular traffice app~
said intersections from any direction shall come to a complete
stop before proceeding into or across any of said intersections~
and that appropriate stop signs be erected at said intersectionsl
Section 2

That traffic control signal lights shall be installed at the
intersections of Crestview Court and 8th street~ E~ing Lane and
8th Street and Briscoe Drive and 8th Street: and that no vehicul~
traffice shall enter or cross any intersection at' such locations
when such vehicle is facing ared colored stop light~ providing
however~ that during such time as such traffic signals are
on a flashing signal~traffic~ may cross and enter said intersect
after having first stoped and having found itsafe to proceed!
into the intersection. That vehicular traffice facing a green
light shall have the right to enter into and cross intersection~
and a yellow or ambe~ light shall indicatethat vehicular traffi
shall proceed with caution.
SECTION # 3!
That the provisions of this ordinance shall become effective
from and after its publication asprovided by law~ and ~fte~'
the installation of necessary signs and traffic signal devices.
SECTION
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed:upon this
ordinance taking effect.
SECTION [
Any person~ persons or corporations violating the provisions of
this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be fined in smy
sum not in excess of $2~.OO,
