%7HEREAS, .the City of jeffersonville and the Town of ClarksVille
are lying adjacent to each other and the boundary lines of each
and,
communll y are contiguous to each other at several points
WHEREAS, some conflict in the Past has arisen concerning the
question of annexation of additional territory to each community
as it might affect tke other and,
WHEREAS, in the past the Town of Clarksville and the City of
Jeffersonville have annexed the same territory and,
WHEREAS, it is the idesire of each community to cooperate with
each other for the benefit of the county at large and to the
benefit of both communities,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,
Sec. 1. That each community will withdraw from the Ordinance
of annexation, involving the annexation of part of the same territory.
SeC. 2. Tkat there is kereby created a joint commltte , said
committee ito consist of four members. The Mayor of the City of Jeff-
ersonville and one member of his City council to be appointed by him,
the President of the Clarksville Town Board and a member of the
Town Board appointed by him. The purpose of this committee to

be tol conslde any proposed annexation before the presentation
any formal ordinance by either community and to further consider
any joint efforts to promote the same laws and orderly growth of
either community.
