HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-23-98COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA NOVEMBER 23, 1998 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in special session in the Multi-Purpose Meeting .Room in the City-County Building, Jeffersonville, Indiana, at 6:00 P.M. on the 23rd day of November, 1998. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Thomas R. Galligan, with Deputy Clerk Barbara Hollis at the desk. Mayor Galligan welcomed all in attendance, asking all those present to stand as Councilperson Ellis gave the invocation. Mayor Gailigan asked all those present to join him in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. The roll was called and those present were Councilpersons John Perkins, Ron Ellis, Donna M. Frantz, Peggy Knight Wilder, Barbara Wilson, Andrew Williams III, and Vicky Conlin. Absent: None. Ordinance No. 98-OR-82, An Orffmance Transferring Funds Within Same Department (Police) was presented for consideration. Police Chief Mike Pavey explained the funds will be used to purchase 11 video cameras for police vehicles. Chief Pavey reviewed the equipment and the advantages of the cameras. Council President Conlin made the motion to suspend the rules for Ordinance No; 98~OR-82, seconded by Councilperson Frantz, passing unanimously. Council President Conlin then made the motion to pass Ordinance No. 98-OR-82 on all three readings, seconded by Councilperson Frantz, passing unanimously. Mayor Galligan said the cameras will serve as protection, as well as excellent training. Mayor Galligan presented Ordinance No. 98-OR-79, An Ordinance Redrawing City Council District Boundaries, asking when the Council wants to do something with this as it was tabled at the previous meeting: Council President Conlin understands the deadline to pass this was November 8. Mr, Charlie White commented this was worked on five years ago and there always seems to be a reason to wait. The general consensus is to leave the Ordinance tabled.
