HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-R-11// RESOLUTION NO. 11 WHEREAS, the Indiana Bell Telephone Company has requested a $35 Million rate increase that would result in a 28.1% in- crease in flat rate service, and WHEREAS, said company has received a rate increase in each of the last (3) three years resulting in a gain in excess of (3) ~ree million dollars in net profits in 1972 over 1971, and WHEREAS, Indiana subscribers now pay a higher rate for In- diana service than is charged in 15 of the 20 largest Bell-Ser- viced cities in the nation, r~nging from a low of $4.65 in Los Angeles to $7.15 in Detroit, and WHEREAS, this area has a local potential free toll calling of less than 380,000 phones compared to Washington D.C. with 500,000 phones and a rate of only $5.95. THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council, of the City of Jeffersonville, with the public in mind, oppose a rate increase at this time to Indiana Bell Telephone Company.
