Whereas, recreation is a basic need for each ~ud every htm~n being, and
Whereas, the City of Jeffersonvi!le c~u provide at a mirdmt~ cost,
recreational opportunities for residents of it's Senior Citizens Apartments
end other interested citizens of the City - by and through t~e purchase of the
property commonly known as t~e old "G~e" property located directly
North of the Clark Arms Apartment Building, and
Whereas, said purchase ~ould add impetus to the City's efforts in
improving the business district area, and
Whereas, the Park Board has indicated a willingness to improve and
maintain this area, and
Whereas, Fraternal orders, Civic Clubs, Sororities, etc., would contribute
to the ult~ate development cost of this area with the utilization of Tax i~nds,
and
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the City of Jeffersonville purchase
said property at a cost of $35,105.75 plus any additional expenses that would
normally be incurred in purchasing property, including, but not lim~.ted to legal
fees and pro-rated rexes, and in so doin~ enrich the lives of all those residing
in the Clark Arms Apartment Building and other Citizens of the City of
Jeffersonvilleo
